One of the best ways to gauge if recruiting into different industries is possible or not is by reaching out to current students. Various clubs at UNC regularly organize coffee-chats. I remember one I attended (Marketing OR Consulting Club, don't exactly remember) where the panel did suggest that for IB, traveling to new york is a must. You might want to check out https://www.uncibc.com/ and for tech it's pretty much on campus (Although not sure, as I don't aim to recruit for any of them).

Hi Current 2nd year MBA at KFBS. At UNC, they teach you to have a plan A and plan B. Usually the only caveat being you really can't do IB and Consulting, although one person successfully did. Because tech occurs a bit later in the cycle, you can certainly recruit for both IB and Tech. That would be a good A and B Plan.

Regarding gifts, UNC stopped doing that video brochure. I believe they send you Carolina Blue Argile socks in partnership with a local non-profit that they donate to. Once you accept you get a bunch of other things like shirts and bells. Of course, once you are student you get KFBS backpacks, water bottles, pad-folio's etc. Of course, these are all secondary things. Even during recruiting, you'll get a bunch if company swag so the gifts don't really stop. Choosing the right program is far more important! Goodluck!
