Yes, there is always some. But it depends on how you word your ask.
I have seen some people getting more and some people not. Luckily, I had a full ride so did not have to ask.

May be you can talk to the ADCOM over a phone call and tell them how excited you are to join UNC and how you can contribute towards the school and also learn from the experience. Then subtly drop a hint about Kelley as well and say that the only thing that might stop you is the finances.

I am sure you can word it in a better way.

I think the school is already certified. The Class of 2020 graduated with a STEM degree if I am not wrong.

Hey Nikhil,

UNC could not get Business analytics STEM certified in 2020. This was communicated to admitted students. Hopefully, they will get it certified by Jan 2021. Considering UNC (Not KFBS) has multiple programs STEM certified, I don't think it would be a problem.

A deferred student here - UNC is not yet STEM certified. They will be updating students about the STEM outcome in January. Hopefully they should get the STEM certification!

You only get swag for considering to accept. Once you’ve accepted, there’s no reason to send your swag 🤣 (most guys stop buying flowers for their spouse once they get married. My wife commented on this many times without much effect 😬)

Hmm I got half ride to Kelley instead. I worded my letter but not sure if I can ask for more? As Kelley is lower ranked...

One other question, how was recruiting for you and your classmates? Did most people get the jobs they wanted! There’s some poor reviews on here that I don’t know if I believe.

Yes, you do get some swag. Although that is not something to look forward to. It was a device with some pre recorded videos. Unfortunately, I have only heard about it as mine was lost in transit and i never received any. But you get plenty of swag once you are in the school. So that compensates

I am not sure on how you need to word your letter but it never hurts to ask.
Recruiting is very much dependent on the individual. I would not say that all of the people got the jobs they wanted but when I talk to my friends right now, they are all happy in what they are doing.

I dont know about the rumors but I will tell that there is a lot of focus on the recruitment in first year and not so much in the second.

I think MBA as a program is very front loaded. I remember  bb  wrote a great post about it a few years back. So once you are in the B-School, put in all you got in the first 6 months and you will find yoursrelf in a comfortable place.

For specifics, all the companies come to campus and have regular office hours with alums from those companies.
There are plenty of people who go to consulting in MBB and Deloitte with most number going to McK and Deloitte.
Tech people go to Dell, Amazon, Microsoft, Google, IBM, NetApp to name a few.
Investment Banking has a long list.

But having said that, there are limited options for internationals as many companies do not sponsor. But that would be across the B-Schools.
