I can confirm. Darden is a super generous school. I got a full-ride and I am an international FY student from Russia.
Regarding your upcoming decisions. I am chatting with a lot of people from my intake from the different schools. Unless you haven't been admitted to HBS, I would choose Darden. Academic experience is amazing. While people are volunteering at Duke or travelling at Stanford, we're working our asses off. Five classes a week, all core. Plus recruiting. Plus if you are confident enough - a Data Science dual degree. I leave my house at 6am and get back at 11pm everyday. If you really want to learn something and get a high paid job (4th place in terms of salary) Darden is a great place.
And think about Data Science. Gives you additional 2years of STEM opt. And employers are freaked out about it.
kromay , I am not denying that Darden is one amazing school but you can't say that the only one superior to it is HBS.
I was on your place one year ago and even applied to Columbia to an Early Round. Thank God they haven't admitted me!!!!! Honestly. There are bunch of schools that are "superior" by their name. I would not deny this fact. Especially for international students who only heard about certain big names. I am telling you that in terms of experience there is hardly one school except for HBS, which is superior to Darden. And the ratings are with that. If you check the info, Darden is #1 school in the world in terms of the academic experience. Your nickname implies that you'll be pursuing the IB job. I met a lot of bankers throughout the process and they told me that Darden grads are way better prepared for the job, than people from other schools, because of the rigor of the program. It's very similar to IB job in terms of work load. I know that you think I am kinda biased. I don't care to be honest which school you choose, but what I say is that my close friend chose another "school of management" instead of Darden and just because of the famous name. We both already realized that it was the biggest mistake in his life. Plus there are some obvious benefits of Darden.
1) 100% case method. Only HBS has the same.
2) Cheapest cost of living among all top schools.
3) Super high chance of securing a scholarship, and with your GMAT, probably even a full-tuition one.
4) The only program with Data Science dual-degree, which gives you additional 2years of STEM (check out the information about Requests of Evidence for international students. It's horrible these days)
Answering other questions. Full-ride = full-tuition. If you meant a full-tuition + a stipend - it's a Jefferson Scholarship, which is only for US students.
Data Science dual degree is amazing, 100% of my class got at least 50% of tuition with many who got their full rides. STEM is not a cherry on a cake, it's a life saving thing if you want to stay in the US. "Requests for evidence" are real. People get relocated from their jobs at the banks and consulting firms because of it.
Regarding Entrepreneurship. I postponed my plans with that, because there is no way you get a working visa in the States for starting your business, so I first need to stay, get my GC and then get back to Entrepreneurship. But generally they have amazing resourses here for that.
And yes, they will call exactly one day before the official letter. Unlike other schools, Darden always calls. I got my call at around 14:00 EST.
