They give 20k for forte 10-15 for merit

And they convert to intuition rather than internation tution

Which will further reduce but full ride is tough

Thank you for offering. Lots of us are struggling to make decisions :) I have a few questions that could help others here:

1) What are the other school options you had and what big factor(s) made you decide on Foster?

2) Foster has a reputation for only feeding heavily into MSFT and Amazon to inflate tech hiring numbers. Do other tech firms have a heavy hiring presence in Foster as well? (I'm talking non-Seattle firms - Adobe, SFDC, VMWare, NVidia etc.) - forgive me if my info is outdated!

3) Is the small class size ever an impediment? (less firms coming on campus, smaller LT network etc)

4) How are current students coping with the slowdown/freeze in tech hiring? Has there been commentary from management/career services on the way forward?

Fringe questions - not really questions, just your opinion could help:

5) How is the UDub brand perceived in the business world, versus peers (UTA, USC, UCLA, CMU, GTown, UNC, IU)

6) Any indication that Foster will diversify its placement portfolio into consulting as well? Could be a deciding factor for international students who want to maximize their chances

1. I had offers from Marshall Kelley and some others. I chose Foster for the people. When I interacted with the people, I found Foster to be the most warm. Also the location and small class size.
2.Its a misconception. Foster is not a feeder to MSFT/AMZN. MSFT recruits a meager number of people from Foster. This time too it is <5. Also, amazon recruits from every where. Not just Foster. Last year we had offers from Adobe, VMWare, Dell, Salesforce, ServiceNow etc. Also don't think about "heavy hiring". No body hires like that from anywhere. Plant this info already in your mind so that your journey is easier.
3.Small class size is the best thing about Foster in my opinion. You make good friends rather than being one among many. You will realize this once you are in here. Don't worry about network. Foster has a respectable network already.
4.Students including me are very worried to be honest. Career Mgmt is providing good support. They got in touch with many their contacts in the industry and notified us that the intern hirings are not affected. but unfortunately that is not the case with current full-time hiring.
5.UW brand is at par with the others like IU, USC, UTA. But if you consider Kellogg or Wharton or Stanford obviously it's inferior. Brand can anyway take you so much. It's the work we put in that matters. Please don't choose a college just based on brand. Bad Idea.
6. Foster already has a pretty good representation in Consulting. The number of consulting offers has been growing steadily over these years. The support for consulting aspirants are really good within the community also.
