So my one recommendation was in way back in September or October for SOM and my other one was submitted today....TWO DAYS AFTER THE DEADLINE.

Does anybody know SOM's policy on getting the letters after the date. I had submitted the app in the end of December.

Please, please, please, please dont tell me that I will be pushed into Round 3.

Added matty0212 on the front page!

And as for my recommendation letter problem:

"You should try to have your recommender submit by the deadline, but if that's not possible it's fine if it's a few days late. Your application won't be reviewed until it's complete."

From Yale admissions. Phewwwwwwwww!

Hi all - I have a question about class visits at Yale SOM.

In many schools - you get to pick the class / Prof. you want to sit-in on. Many schools have a detailed schedule for class visits indicating which classes are open to prospective applicants.

However, the Yale website states that they will assign a class to you on the day that you visit.

Does anyone know if I can request to sit in on a certain class and how I might go about scheduling this visit. I am really interested in the work of 1 particular Prof. and don't even know if he's teaching a class this semester.

Thanks!

When I visited, they gave us a list of 4 (maybe 6, dont remember exactly) classes that we were allowed to sit in on. You got to choose one to visit before lunch, and one after lunch. I think they are pretty rigid and you have to visit one of the 4 because you go with a student guide. They also suggest that one of the classes you choose be a core class.

Anyone else - who was able to attend a class they really wanted? How did you go about doing it? Thanks!

I dont think that's possible. They gave me 6 classes in the morning and 5 in the afternoon I could choose from. So, I think you will be able to choose whatever classs you need if it's offered that day.

Of course, I believe you can only attend first-year classes.

If there's something you really want to visit and its not offered, I suggest you reach out to the admissions office and ask them. If it's a reasonable request, I don't see why they wont make an exception.

I'm in for Round 2 ... could someone please add me to the list.

Also, while I'm here, here's a question:

When I previewed my uploaded transcripts, the backside (with explanation) for one of my transcripts was entirely unreadable. It appears the uploading process compresses the visual to get the red header/footer with applicant information on the page - this compression doesn't do a good job of preserving the original image. The actual grades were quite visible. I called up the admissions office yesterday and was told that I could either send in official transcripts, or wait for the adcom to review my file and that they would email me if they found anything illegible.

Not sure what to do. Anyone else encountered this problem?

Thanks!

The same thing happened to me too. So I just emailed them my PDF transcript with the code in the upper right of the preview. They replied within the hour and said that indeed the transcript that they received is a little blurry, probably the compression system sacrifice the quality too much to save space.

Yale adcom discussion board says they are meeting this morning to wrap up decisions. No more invites to come. They say notification will begin this afternoon EST and continue until COB.

Just heard.... waitlisted at Yale! I am pretty excited as I hadn't gotten an interview invite and I thought for sure this would be a ding to match with my other ding so far.

Anyone know how many waitlisted people they've admitted in the past?
