Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out and sharing some details of your profile! You have a very interesting background! Management/rotational programs typically provide some unique opportunities for impact and leadership early on in one’s career. However, my question to you is why are you applying to MBA programs this year when your level of experience (<3 years) is generally below the average for the top schools? I wonder if your candidacy would benefit from another year or two of experience? In addition, I would question if you couldn’t achieve your career goals in corporate strategy/development without an MBA. I would think that those opportunities would be available to you within your current company coming out of the leadership program, no? In general, as a younger applicant, you want to be really clear and specific about why you’re pursuing an MBA now – so that’s why I’m asking this line of questions.
Onto your stats – unfortunately, although your GRE is right at, if not above, the average for many of the schools on your list, it’s going to be tough to offset your undergrad GPA (although I appreciate that your grades improved your senior year). Especially as a younger applicant, your GPA will be closely scrutinized (since it’s more recent) and it could really help your case to have a knock-it-out-of-the-park GRE or GMAT score to help offset it.
In general, I would urge you to rethink your application timing and consider whether or not another year or two would allow you to strengthen your profile considerably (i.e. re-take the GMAT/GRE, gain more work experience, beef up your extra-curriculars, etc.) However, if you’re sure that this year is the right time for you and you simply want to make the most out of your profile as it stands today, I would encourage you to look at some of the US schools in the top 25-30. Oxford and Rotman are also good options for you, I think.
I hope that wasn’t too negative but I think it’s important to provide you honest feedback so you’re armed with multiple perspectives in making the right decisions for you. If you have any further questions, please let me know! Either way, best of luck to you!
Kindly,
Melody
