Answer to your DS question will be Option A

Statement 1 alone tells us that base of the triangle will be 8 units (x-coordinate from -5 to 3) and
Height of the triangle will be 6 units (y co-ordinate changing from 2 to 8)

hence area = (1/2)*8*6 = 24

Statement 2 is not sufficient as Height remains unknown...
