Hi,
Hi
Leo95, will comment below on your questions.
Can you please evaluate my profile. I have only recently started thinking about getting an MBA
Background: Male, 22 year old (too young?
)
Nationality: Indian (you ARE on the young side... that's not the whole story but you may skew young on work experience- will have to keep reading tos see what I think..)
Undergrad: graduated in 2016, from a UK Russel group (tier 1) university in aerospace engineering (grade - 2:2. stretched myself too thin
). Also won a scholarship for all 3 years of UG studies (OK well that could be strike 2... lower gpa... lower work experience... so the GMAT would be helpful to be at the top range...
GMAT: not yet written (exam due in Jul 2017) STUDY for this! It needs to be good!
Work Experience:
started and successfully ran an internet-based company in London (during 2nd year of undergrad) for 1.5 years -> had to stop and return to India due to visa and personal issues
started a food and beverage company in india -> still going strong (almost 7 months)
(The work experience is interesting- off to a very good start- cross-cultural and some good startup.. but still in early stages... focus on your impact and why you need the MBA now.
internships in financial services
currently working on starting an internet-based company
currently working on starting a fashion photography studio
currently preparing for CFA level 1 and GMAT (CFA Level 1 is fine- but not at expense of GMAT- I would put all my eggs in the GMAT prep basket now if I were you..)
Community:
started a sports club during undergrad studies, part of leadership of 2 other societies during undergrad studies, volunteered at a local non-profit organization during undergrad studies
promoted from a teacher to a board of director at an Indian non-profit -> still going strong (8 months)
Post-MBA goals:
get into IBD (M&A, haven't decided on the market sector, mostly tech) in the US as an associate, alongside start an internet company -> after - either progress asap to an MD position or move into venture capital (after 1-3 years of M&A exp) (Try to get some kind of experience here pre-MBA)
Other:
online courses from top-institutes in finance, accounting, digital marketing, and business strategy (through coursera)
extensive travelling (almost all of EU, a few ASEAN countries, and India) -> self-funded
involved in combat sports (wrestling and mma)
learning russian
Universities: IBD (M&A) target schools in the US
Other questions:
1) Would schools consider a candidate at such a young age? maybe- but helps to be at top range for gpa and gmat
2) Any chance of scholarships? not that likely with lower gpa- even with out of the park GMAT. Never say never... but you will have to overcome the gpa hurdle...
3) Any tips on how to improve my profile? get some work experience in i-banking pre MBA.
Best wishes to you!Kind Regards
