Hi adparikh,

A 640/Q46 is a solid Score, so it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. If you're planning to apply to any highly-competitive Programs though, you might need to retest. To gain some additional perspective on whether to retest or not, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement (and the more time that you have to act on that advice, the better). There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

https://gmatclub.com/forum/ask-admissio ... tants-124/

Before I can offer you any additional advice for your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) On what date did you take your Official GMAT?
2) How long have you studied? How many hours did you typically study each week?
3) Did you use any of the Official CATs/mocks or just the Kaplan ones?
4) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
5) What is your overall goal score?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

If you took your Official GMAT at a Test Center, then you might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.

Any courses which would help with SC/RC for verbal and number properties/probability for quants?

Here's an idiom list for Sentence Correction you may find helpful. For RC, becoming familiar with how INFERENCE questions work on the GMAT could also be beneficial.

Hi adparikh,

Here are a few pointers from my side that can help you improve your score.

What does this 640 score mean

V33 and Q46 suggest that you do have conceptual understanding to a certain extent. But it is equally clearly that there are gaps in your knowledge and skills. The scores indicate that you have not mastered the core skills required to ace the GMAT. GMAT is a test of skills such as communication, logical thinking, inferring, visualization, simplification, etc. You must master these skills to reach your target score.

Considering you have not improved since the first mock, you probably need to overhaul your prep strategy.

Improving to a 740+

You must execute a personalized action plan with metrics that can track your improvement (daily) through the journey. Tracking enables us to make necessary changes from time to time when things stop working. I hope you’ve realized that there is no point in studying for 2+ months without tracking and then realizing things are not working out.

You should first work on building the requisite core skills through a step-by-step approach and then cement (master) them through timed practice. Here are a couple of articles that can help you understand this:

How to score Q50+ in Quant

Course Recommendation

Since you asked for a course recommendation, I suggest you look at our GMAT Online Focused course. The GMAT Online course is the most successful GMAT course out there: ~60% of all 700+ scores reported in the GMAT Club reviews section since 2021 are by e-GMATers.

The important reasons for this success are our proprietary methodologies. For SC, we teach our Meaning-based Approach; for RC, key reading strategies to read and understand the passages faster; and, for NP and Probability, we teach Six Process Skills to approach challenging questions on the GMAT. These skills can make all the difference to your prep. In fact, here are a couple of case studies of students who were in your shoes: Valentin improved from 620 to 760 (admit from Harvard with $120k scholarship), and Rohit improved from 590 to 740.

I invite you to come check out our free trial to witness these methodologies in action with no strings attached.

Evaluating the right fit and one-on-one strategy session

If you think our course is a good fit for you, we can have a one-on-one strategy session to discuss your improvement plan. Feel free to book the session here.

I hope this gives some clarity on the next steps.

Regards,
Sundeep
