A very decent showing for the first timer. It seems that 690 is sufficient for you as you do not plan to retake it. Should you change your mind, though, I am sure you can break 700!

Congrats on your 690.

If at all you like to have that 700, this would be the best time to get it.

I’m sure with improvement in quant score you can achieve 700 or above!

Just saying :p

Just sat for my test today.

Sources used- eGMAT, and GMATclub.

Prep length-1.5 months.

My prep length was a bit short, and so results were not as high as I would want them to be. I only used 2 resources. eGMAt for the concept and Gmat club for the question bank.

In verbal, I struggled with SC. Even after 2 straight weeks of practicing 600-700 level questions, my accuracy hovered around 6/10, with no consistent improvement. I gave up on it and focused heavily on RC and CR, and this worked out for me. During today's test, I got 4 passages of increasing difficulty, but was able to answer them with a high accuracy.

In Quant, practice from gmat club's q bank helped identify my areas of weakness. I worked on my shortcomings, by revising the concept on eGMAT and by filter solving from gmatclub's Q bank. I found out I was weak in 'inequalities', 'absolute values' and permutations. I struggled with DS especially. eGMAT's scholarium was also a good place to practice difficult questions.

Exam mistakes- Impatience has been the bane of my life and it was no different during the test. If I had not been so hasty, I would have had a higher Quant score. I realized 3 mistakes only after submitting the answers for those 3 questions. I would recommend everyone who shares my flaw in this category, to practice some mock tests to improve exam discipline. I had over 10 minutes left during my last 3 questions and this was a pointless hoarding of the time.

I do not plan on retaking the tests. Just wanted to share my experience and give a big shout out to Gmatclub and eGMAT for the help!

Good score for first attempt!!
Any reason why you are not planning to take it up again ??

How did you work on RC and CR.
For CR did you use any strategy or was it more from your understanding.?

If i had been in your position( sadly i am not :( ), i would have attempted a retake definitely :) .

My questions is how did you manage RC and CR without SC.?

Congratulations for scoring 690! There is a room for improvement especially for your Quant.

If you aim European schools, 690 is all you need. But if you aim top schools in US, don't rush to take your next test and good luck!

Hi lookingglass,

First off, a 6940/Q4 is a fantastic Score, so it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. Depending on the Schools that you plan to apply to, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:
