my profile .. I have 740 in gmat .. I have secured All INDIA Rank 5 in the GATE Exam. I have worked both as maintenance engineer and inspection engineer in the largest public sector oil refinery of india ... I have work ex of 8 years and will have total work ex of 9 years at time of matriculation. my age at time of application is 29 and at time of matriculation is 30. .. I have got 2 promotions in my organisation in the fastest possible duration . My last 3 performance ratings were Outstanding ... I was teaching assistant for btech part II student during my 4th year of graduation.... I Also used to teach at an orphanage. post mba I want to work in operations....
Great profile with lots of experience for the committee to see your demonstrated leadership and academic readiness. You are on the cusp of the 2YR vs 1YR Work Ex. Operations is a good STG, think of companies you’d like to work for and the position titles. UK/EU programs or 1YR US programs are a bit better of a target.

Hi, Good day! I would like to get my profile evaluated. Nationality : Indian; Work Experience : 5 years - Singapore (Supply Chain/Manufacturing industry); Master of Science, Industrial & Systems Engineering GPA 3.5/5 (National University of Singapore), Bachelor of Engineering, Mechanical Engineering GPA 8.6/10 (Anna University, Chennai, India); 12th Std - 94%; 10th - 93%, GMAT 660 (Q48,V34) - Planning to give another attempt. Trying for fall 2023 as this year’s deadlines have passed. I am looking for Supply Chain/Consulting for post MBA. Would really appreciate if you could help me evaluate my profile and provide your suggestions for top B schools with scholarships. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing your profile - strong academics and Work Ex with international exposure. Breaking 700 would be a must in the current MBA climate (super competitive, especially for Indian candidates) - with current scores - Fisher, ASU W. P. Carey, Purdue, Smeal, Broad MSU; with 700+ Tepper, Ross

IIT is great to have on your resume! Apply in R1 and for Early Action/Decision - this will show your commitment. You can look at Employment Reports for schools you are interested in to see roles and companies. You can also look at specializations on the schools site to see what information they over - here is a good example from Tepper - https://www.cmu.edu/tepper/programs/mba ... index.html

what are my chances to get into an M7 ?
M7 is less friendly to Indians with more than 7-8 yrs of exp and 30.... not impossible, but they really protect their stats for rankings.

Not too ambitious... M7 is hard for anyone with single-digit/low double-digit admit rates. However, you seem to have a great profile and lots of potential for post-MBA employment. I typically say that once you are at/over the program’s average GMAT/GRE score, it is your job to prove you are the right fit - customize and tailor your apps to illustrate you’ve researched each program and articulate why you know you are a good fit!

Thanks a lot! I really appreciate your input. Given my profile and interest in pivoting to Management Consulting, what are some schools that you’d suggest looking into a lot more deeply?

Solid profile, bit on the lower end of Work Ex - any promotions? any family business exp? strong internships? that may give you a boost. What are your career goals? Schools you are aiming for?
And are you related to happyposeidon835, <-- also green card holder and grew up in 3 countries! :)

30 is hard but likely not a deal breaker for MBB specifically - they are looking for folks ready to work 80+hrs/wk and travel extensively, you’ll work with your career coach to pitch your profile to them. Here is a good list from P&Q of feeder schools to MBB, T2 firms - https://poetsandquants.com/2022/02/22/i ... ing-firms/

MiM is a great fit, especially if no promotions/extra experience yet. You can also look for MiM programs that also do a fast-track MBA later like Fuqua at Duke.
