(1) It takes the machine 56 seconds to produce 40 bolts.

(2) It takes the machine 1.4 seconds to produce 1 bolt.

The takeaway from the question stem is that the machine produces bolts at a constant rate

(1) It takes the machine 56 seconds to produce 40 bolts.
This translates to saying that the machine take $$\frac{56}{40} = 1.4$$ seconds to product one bolt.
With the time taken to product one bolt, we can tell the total time taken for the machine
to produce 300 bolts (Sufficient)

(2) It takes the machine 1.4 seconds to produce 1 bolt.
With the time taken to product one bolt, we can tell the total time taken for the machine
to produce 300 bolts (Sufficient - Option D)

straight away D as from statement 1. we can know that certain rate and then divide 300 by that rate.
and in statement 2 we got rate 10/14 and divide 300 by 10/14. so both statement is sufficient. OA please

56 seconds - 40
x - 300

x can be calculated

sufficient

Statement 2

1.4 seconds - 1 bolt
x - 300

Sufficient

Must be D
