1) gives two values for x.. (x-2)*(x+1)=0. x is either 2 or - 1
2) gives (y-1)^2=0. y=1

x-y is either 1 or - 2.

If x-y<0 then x=-1 and y=1, that gives
x+y=0

answer to this question is C

1. Solving 1 you get x = -1 or 2
2. Solving Y you get y=1

combine 1&2

x+y = 0 since x<y

The answer should be C.
If y=1 then since y>x x has to be -1, the value of x+y will be 0.

(1) x^2 – x – 2 = 0
(2) y^2 - 2y + 1 = 0

I think you mean 'if'.
