Hi umairalvi,

Since the GMAT is a remarkably consistent Exam, you would likely be fine using a slightly older version of the OG (such as the GMAT2015). That having been said, while the OG books are great sources for practice questions, they are not designed to teach you Tactics, patterns or the little 'secrets' behind the GMAT - for those, you'll need Course-oriented materials. To that end, you might want to work on the OG a little later on in your studies.

Before I can offer you any additional advice for your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied so far? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) Do you have access to any other study materials besides the books that you listed?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Many of the questions in the gym at prep up from the OG 10 which was released in 2003. So what do you think? 😎

I have the GMAT OG 2015 along with the quant and verbal review books from the same year. I was wondering if I need to purchase the latest OG?
Thanks in advance..

Hi umairalvi,

OG is basically a collection of questions from the previous tests. OG 2021 will have a few latest questions which you don't find in OG 2015. Apart from that, there's no much difference.

Having said that, if you are beginner, I suggest you to not start your prep with OG. Study from a standard resource which can help you with the concepts and the methodology to solve questions and then move to practicing questions.

I can suggest you in a better way if you can provide me a few more details such as:

  • When did you start your GMAT prep?
  • Did you take any mock?
  • If yes, what's the score and the breakdown?

This information will help me guide you in a better way. You can reach out to me over a call and we can have a detailed discussion on the same.

Hi umairalvi,

As has been said, you should not have any issues using the OG from 2015; however, do you plan to use any other resources for your prep?
