Hey guys, 1st one got 620, tried the second time 3 months ago and got 640, needed the 650 so this time got 660, just took it a little bit less seriously which alowed me to be less nervous
Congratulations,
DiogoNunes. I agree with your observation that taking the test a little less seriously can help sometimes. I even advise students at times, if I think they have serious anxiety issues and keep running into problems with timing, to allow themselves up to three "free pass" questions per section, kind of like a get-out-of-jail-free card, but three times over. This is how I explain the different scenarios:
1) hyper-focus on each question, second-guess answers, and stare at the clock, worrying about falling behind with each question; or
2) focus on each question, one at a time, second-guess some answers, but choose the same default answer (their letter of choice) for up to three questions, spending no more time than 10-15 seconds on each of those questions to pick a bubble, confirm the answer, and move on, banking at least a minute and a half for each one, using the extra time to
calm down and look at the other problems with a game plan.
For many people, the second scenario leads to more points. We just need to let go sometimes, even if we have to train ourselves.
Thank you for sharing. I am glad to hear that you achieved your target score. Good luck, moving forward.
