Fee Waiver details for individual Schools

Harvard Business School Fee Waiver+

    Need-based application form if you make less than $65K/year

    Harvard Business School believes that your financial circumstances should never prevent you from applying to or attending our MBA program.

    If your annual income at your current or most recent place of employment is $65,000 USD or less, the need-based application fee waiver will automatically apply after you submit your application. If you do not automatically qualify but would like to request one due to financial hardship, you may submit a need-based waiver request form.

    To request a need-based fee waiver, you will need to start an application and complete the fee waiver request form inside. This request must be submitted two (2) weeks before the application round deadline in which you are applying to allow for processing time. Your full application does not need to be completed nor submitted by that time, just the fee waiver request form.

    You can find out whether you are approved for a fee waiver before you decide to apply to HBS. We ask you to use this form to share your 2022 income information (or 2023 income information for 2+2 applicants) as well as your financial circumstances and reasons for requesting a need-based fee waiver. You may wish to include information about your income, financial assets, educational debt, family obligations, and/or any extenuating circumstances that may warrant a fee waiver. Please be aware that in some circumstances, the Admissions Office may request additional documentation after you submit this form.

    After submitting the form, we will contact you via email to confirm whether or not we are able to provide a fee waiver. If your fee waiver request is not approved, you will have 48 hours or up until the application deadline date (if that has not passed) to be considered in that round. If your fee waiver request is not approved and you do not submit an application fee, your application will not be considered.

    Please note, admission to Harvard Business School is need-blind which means we do not take your financial circumstances into account when making an admissions decision. The information collected in the fee waiver is not shared with the MBA Admissions Board. If you are accepted to Harvard Business School you will have the opportunity to apply for need-based financial aid in a separate financial aid process.

Stanford GSB Fee Waiver+

    The Stanford MBA Program application fee is $275 and is nonrefundable.

    We recognize that, for some, this application fee may be a barrier to apply. To reduce the financial burden, we offer the following application fee waivers and fee reductions:

    ● Reduced Fee for Defer-Eligible Applicants
    If you are in your final year of a bachelor’s degree or a joint bachelor/graduate program (and your degree will be conferred between 1 October 2023 and 30 September 2024) or you are currently enrolled in a graduate program (which you began immediately following an undergraduate or undergraduate/graduate program), you qualify for a reduced application fee of $100.

    ● Military Service Fee Waiver
    The application fee is waived for active-duty US military service members, US military veterans who have been honorably discharged, and those serving in the U.S. military reserves. If you are eligible for a waiver, upload one of the following documents when prompted in the online application:

    Option 1: Proof-of-service statement or letter, dated within the last 45 days
    Option 2: Copy of most recent enlistment contract, dated within the last 365 days
    Option 3: Copy of Tuition Assistance (TA) form showing date of separation (if applicable)
    Option 4: Copy of your most recent leave and earnings statements showing estimated time of separation, dated within the last 45 days
    Alternatively, you may submit other documentation, but it must indicate your current military status and the date you will be separating from that status. (Do not submit a copy of your military ID.)

    ● Sí Se Puede Latin America Fee Waiver
    If you are from Latin America (including Puerto Rico and the Caribbean islands, Central America, Mexico, and South America, including Brazil) - and you make less than US $40,000 per year - your MBA application fee will automatically be waived in the 2023–2024 application year when you submit your application. The salary currency conversion to US dollars will be calculated based on exchange rates on 8 June 2023.

    ● Need-Based Fee Waiver
    If paying the application fee poses an extreme financial hardship, contact MBA Admissions for information on how to request a need-based fee waiver

Wharton School of Business+

    Application fee waivers are only granted to students for whom the application fee would create an extreme financial hardship or for U.S. military active duty or veteran applicants.

    Applicants who wish to request a fee waiver must start their application and e-mail feewaiver@wharton.upenn.edu with information detailing their financial need. We will then follow up for supporting documentation. Requests must be submitted no later than 15 days prior to application submission, and no requests will be granted after the application deadline for the round in which you applied.

    For veterans or active duty applicants, reach out to our admissions office when you are ready to submit your application.

Kellogg School of Management+

    Fee waivers are granted to Kellogg Application Instructions

  • Active duty U.S. military applicants or U.S. military veterans who have been on active duty within three years of applying.
  • Candidates employed by Teach For America, AmeriCorps or the Peace Corps within the past three years.
  • Forte MBA Launch, JumpStart Network, Posse Scholar, Reaching Out MBA (ROMBA) and Riordan Program members, fellows and alumni. Those who request an app fee waiver at the time of submitting their applications will be prompted to provide supporting documentation for review.

  • Active duty U.S. military or U.S. military veterans, Teach For America, AmeriCorps or Peace Corps applicants:
    If you qualify for a fee waiver, send a formal request to mbaadmissions@kellogg.northwestern.edu before you submit your application. Provide supporting evidence of your current employment or military status. Military applicants should submit either a pay stub or a letter from a commanding officer to verify active duty status. For military veterans who have completed service within the last three years, please submit a copy of Form DD-214.

    Candidates may not be considered for more than one program at a time. Please note that all application fees are non-refundable.

MIT Sloan+

    The non-refundable application fee of $250.00 USD must be paid online prior to submitting your application.

Columbia Business School+

    Fee waivers are available to full-time students, active duty US military personnel, eligible displaced persons (view this website for displaced eligibility criteria), and members of the Peace Corps or Teach For All network partners who are currently in service. Proof of current service is required.

    Applicants who qualify for a fee waiver should create or log into the application and navigate to the "Review" page. Upon accessing the Fee Waiver Request form, applicants will provide proof of service and explain their need for a fee waiver. Qualified applicants who have already submitted an application should email apply@gsb.columbia.edu to request a Fee Waiver Request form.

    Please allow up to one week for an update to your online status regarding a fee waiver request.

    The Application fee is automatically waived for our Deferred Enrollment Program.

    Full Time MBA Program

    Application fee waivers are available for all U.S. military applicants, current UCLA graduate students and SIEML program participants. To request a waiver, please upload the requested documentation within your application and wait for confirmation from Admissions before submitting your application (Do not pay the fee, as we do not refund any fees paid.)


    Part-Time Fully Employed Program:

    Application fee waivers are available to all US Military Personnel (active duty and veterans), Teach for America, UC Part-Time MBA Program Transfer Applicants, UCLA Anderson Riordan Programs Alumni and UCLA Staff. Please contact femba.applications@anderson.ucla.edu prior to submission.

Yale School of Management+

    The standard application fee is $250. For applicants earning less than $40,000 a year, the application fee is $175. For applicants earning less than $20,000 a year, it is $125. The application fee is based on the total annual compensation information you provide in the application. If you are admitted and enroll, we will verify this compensation information. Your offer of admission is contingent on successful verification.

    Yale SOM waives the application fee for members of the following groups:

    - Active U.S. military members and U.S. military veterans

    - Members and alumni of Teach for America, Teach for China, Teach for India, or other Teach for All Network Partners

CMU Tepper School of Business+

    Attend the upcoming Application Walkthrough with the Tepper AdCom Alternatively, you can register for an MBA fair such as MBA Spotlight or MBA Tour. You will get a generic email that we have waived your fee considering your interest in Tepper.

How to get a Fuqua application fee waiver?

You are invited to join the Fuqua admissions team for one of our upcoming in-person, virtual, and on-campus events! You will have the opportunity to chat with a member of the Admissions Team to learn more about our portfolio of programs, including our full-time Daytime MBA program, get insight into the admissions process, and learn what makes an application competitive.

I had gotten a couple of fee waivers in R1 - sharing the information here for people applying in R2, hope it helps
1) Cornell - Attend Ask Admissions event
2) Fuqua - Attend an event or get endorsed by a student or an alum
3) Mccombs - Attend Any admission event with adcom
4) Tepper - there is a 7 step process mentioned on their website, after completing which you automarically get a waiver
5) Kenan Flagger - Attend an admission event
6) Rice - submit the application one week before the deadline or get endorsed by an alum
7) Marshall - Free application

I have heard you also get fee waivers for attending events at Georgetown and Emory

1. Texas Mays offers a 50% waiver on attending the event
2. Ohio Fisher: You can attend an event or email adcom to get a fee waiver. It is simple and easy no strings attached
3. Berkeley: You can send your financial statement or tax returns (convert to USD and mention a note on the conversion rate). If your annual income is below a certain level, they will get you the waiver. It will take 3 days, so plan accordingly.
4. Fuqua: Attend an admission event where a fee waiver is listed. (You can check the events section on their website to find the relevant event)
5. Simon: Fee waiver based on the score. (GMAT 690+ gets a fee waiver)

Can we get michigan ross fee waiver? Other than what is mentioned on their webage.

U Michigan does not offer app fee waivers as it is a State school. They are not allowed to. This limitation exists for many others though McCombs does offer them from time to time.... so go figure but I have heard U Mich folks many time mention they can't do waivers.

Hi. We will have another MBA Spotlight Fair in November (in time for R2 applications) that will likely feature hundreds or maybe thousands of app fee waivers.... but that's for R2.

Hi Everyone,

Just letting you know that MIT also offers need-based application fee waiver. I've recently got waived.

You will have to explain your financial situation and will not need to provide supporting document when requesting (they may later ask for documents though)

To request an application fee waiver, please go to the Overview section of the Application and complete the Fee Waiver Form

Quick update - Tepper is giving out App Fee Waivers to attendees of the live session:

Last year McCombs gave fee waiver for attending certain events but this time I couldn’t find the right event for app fee waiver….please let us know if you have the details

In the table I saw Columbia has a need-based waiver. However, the school website doesn't mention it.

Has anyone got a waiver from CBS?

The easiest way to find this out (at absolutely no harm to your candidacy) is to simply email or call the admissions office. These types of waivers aren't always heavily advertised for obvious reasons :)
