Hello all, I am taking the GMAT soon and I am trying to figure out what my cancellation score should be based upon my target schools and other factors.

Professional Goals: Pursue a JD/MBA with a focus in marketing and communication law. After a few years in private practice I'd like to ultimately find my way over to BigFed as an attorney for the FTC, FCC or a similar regulatory agency.

UGPA 3.74/4 (Tier 2 Public, usually ranked around 90-110)

Majors: Philosophy, Mathematics

GRAD: MA in Religion (Ivy, GPA not calculated)

GMAT: The question at hand, my range has been erratic (640-710) but I don't believe further study would be beneficial.

Work Experience: One year teaching high school, six years enlisted military (3 years in Special Operations, creating political, cultural, and communications products for foreign audiences)

Other relevant factors: intermediate working proficiency in Farsi (Iran) and Dari (Afghanistan)

Target Schools: Cornell, UNC Chapel Hill, Duke, Boston University, Boston College

Thanks in advance!

You will at minimum want to get within the 80% GMAT range at your top ranked school which for you would be Duke. As I'm sure you know, the better you do here the better your chances will be. You have quite the range of schools, so make sure if you are cancelling your cancelling for good reason. Just know certain low scores will discount you from some schools

Thank you! I am happy to report that it was not a difficult decision. I got a 690 (Q:44 V:40 IR:8 AWA:?). In light of this do my targets seem reasonable?

Awesome! Nice job...yes your target do seem reasonable for your school list. Now go ahead and whip up some grade A applications!
