Hi All,


I took my GMAT yesterday and scored 640.

I am disappointed with my score and planning to retake the exam after 16 days as I am considering few schools for Jan 2017 intake(1 year full-time MBA).


Wanted to seek help in evaluating my profile with the current GMAT score,if there is any possibility to apply with this score:


GMAT Score: 640

Schools considering:

HEC, Paris
IE, Spain,
Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, Rotterdam
Singapore Management University.
ISB, India
IIM - Ahmedabad/Bangalore/Calcutta.
Any good 1 year MBA school in Canada



Indian male, with around 9 years of IT exp.

Current Company: Edgeverve Systems Ltd
Past Experience : Infosys Limited



Qualifications:

10th: 73.2%
12th: 72.2%
BE/ B.Tech: 71.92% (Mechanical Engineering)

Hi All,
Hi karannarula! So keep in mind that many people do quite well in life with a 640 GMAT or lower. It is not a reflection of your self worth... remember that! And also keep in mind that it is more than the GMAT that makes an outstanding application so don't neglect to spend time on this as well. Showing clear reasons why you are interested in a particular school also helps.

Hello there good sir!

If you think you can do better, retake. Personally I think it would be folly too apply with anything less than the BEST score you can possibly get. I mean, even if your profile is awesome, a higher GMAT will make it more awesome, and will translate into admittance at better schools, or scholarship offers. the only case to consider not taking the GMAT in my opinion is when for whatever reason you HAVE TO go to B-school this year and cannot take the risk of a delay.

People do get into these schools with low GMAT scores (I should know, as ARINGO has applicants with low GMAT scores as a speciality!) but it’s not easy and 640 may be a bit too low for most of these schools, to be honest. That does not mean it cannot be done, but it is much, much harder, especially for Indian applicants who are known for their high GMAT scores.

It seems to me like you think you can do better, and that you have already decided to retake and I definitely think that is a good idea and would not advise against that in any way. So fingers crossed that the score will be higher this time around!
