Congrats! I have been hearing more leniency from AdCom's for deposit and deferral deadlines.
They are still not giving them out left and right but they are considering them with proper circumstances...

Hi bb and folks,

Can you help to advise me to choose the school?

Provided that I will have the Judge interview on 28 Feb and have to made my decision by 10 Mar, I think that it is better idea for me to think about possible scenarios.

Scenario 1: Judge rejected -> An easy decision -> I will go with NUS.

Scenario 2: Judge admitted and NUS admitted. For me, that is a tough decision. I am CFA charterholder with 8 years of working experiences in the asset management industry. My long-term goal is to build an private wealth management company in Vietnam where I have a broad network. My post MBA plan is to work for a prominent asset management company to gain advanced expertise, global perspectives and corporate governance. My preferred location would be somewhere in Asia such as Singapore.

- NUS MBA:
+ Pros:
Cost: cheap - $60k (I believe that I will have a scholarship)
Curri: I strongly prefer the curriculum of NUS MBA. It has Value Investing and Applied portfolio management which I really need.
Location: in Singapore which is suitable for my post MBA plan
Summer internship: I have talked to some NUS alumnus. They all said that the NUS have good networking with many corporations.

+ Cons:
Reputation is strong for Vietnamese but still lower than Cambridge
Lower in ranking than Cambridge

- Cambridge MBA:
+ Pros:
Reputation: the brand name of Cambridge is absolutely prestigious for Vietnamese.
Time: Short - 1 year: I can come back to work earlier
Location: UK - I haven't visited Europe yet. So I would like to take this chance to do so.
Cost: cheap - $100k ( not higher than NUS if opportunity cost is counted)
+ Cons:
Curri: the Cambridge's electives do not really attract me as I am looking for a program that provide not only entrepeurneurship skills but also knowledge about asset management. However, its electives course do not provide what I need.
No intership

Thanks and best regards.

Hello namlaoxao,

From what it appears, you'd prefer Judge only for its brand value.

Remember, comparing schools in different geographies is always tough and it always boils down to what your priorities are. Therefore, neither decision is going to be wrong. Yes, if you wish to settle down in Singapore and build some solid post-MBA networks, NUS is where you should be. The internship will also be a value add.

Good luck!
