Hey Guys,
Glad to join the GMAT club. I wanted to understand my chances at the different schools I'm considering ,here's my profile-
Nationality : Indian
Education:
Robotics Master's from UPenn with a CGPA of 3.61/4 (2010 graduate)
Bachelor in Engineering from RV College in Bangalore in India with a 72% (2008 Graduate)
Work Experience :
6 years as of Nov 29 2016, including jobs at GE Global Research, Robert Bosch and currently in Eaton Corporation.
All in core technical primarily mechanical,electrical and hydraulics domains
Extracurricular :
1) Core organizing team member of Startup Master Class which is an annual startup event and is one of the largest in India with a participation of 850 people
2) Volunteer at Make a Difference (MAD) which is an Indian non -profit organization primarily working with children in orphanages to ensure better career outcomes for the children
3) Company Cricket and Basketball winning team member at Eaton in two corporate tournaments
4) Winning debate and quiz team captain at the annual intra-company competitions
GMAT score : 660 (Q-48;V-33)
Target Schools :
Canada - UBC (Sauder), U-Toronto (Rotman) , Mcgill (Desautels), York (Schulich)
USA - U Wash (Foster), Georgetown (Mcdonough) , Notredame (Mendoza) , Georgia Tech (Scheller), Boston University (Questrom)
Europe : IE Business School ,HEC Paris , Alliance Manchester Business school
I wanted to get some more information if I had any chance in better US schools. GMAT score is low, but I am hoping my UPenn brand name would help in offsetting the score slightly.
Target Better US schools : Kellogg, Johnson, Emory, Fuqua,Mccombs ,Darden,Wharton
Target Better European Schools : INSEAD
Target Better India Schools : ISB
Let me know if there are other better schools where I might have a chance as well, any help would be great !!

Hey there good sir!
So first of all, very good to hear from you!
You do have an interesting profile from what I can see here, and yes UPenn is very good.
The thing is that with your current GMAT, you will not be that competitive at top US schools. You will have to be an exceptional outlier for them even to consider you. Keep in mind that Indian applicants are often getting in with MUCH higher GMATs than their local counterparts. So really my initial thought is: Can you do better? Then wait for next year!

I will also say that right now a big potential issue with your profile is that you are presenting yourself very technically. Instead, it will be very helpful for you to perceive and market yourself as a future potential leader.

Hi Rahul,
In absence of some real solid professional achievements, it’ll be tough at top schools. I’ll look at it this way:
For the top schools, the middle 80% GMAT range starts at 680 or so, which means your score will probably fall in bottom 10-15% of their typical class. If you look from school’s perspective, your score should be balanced by something (and that something mostly comes from professional experience, and, in some cases, a very diverse background) else, otherwise why would they prefer you over those with 720+.
Undergrad institution helps less (in getting in) at top schools for the reason that there are many applicants with similar undergrad institutions and second it’s distant in the past (and hence a lesser predictor of your current ability).
Nonetheless, it’s fine to include one or two stretch schools to your list, depending on the number of schools you’re applying to.
