Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out – great information and questions! Overall, you have a strong profile and I wanted to point out some things that can help inform you decision to apply to b-school:
1) Work experience: 22 months of work experience is a bit on the low end – most applicants have between 3 – 5 years of work experience when they apply to programs. This isn’t saying that it’s impossible to get into your preferred programs with your background, but you’ll need a super compelling story on why business school makes sense for you (see #3)
2) GMAT score – your score will put you in the range of schools like Anderson for example (GMAT range 680-750; average GMAT 714 per P&Q data today), but with average GMAT scores rising every year, it makes the need for that compelling story to set you apart from other applicants (see #3)
3) My biggest feedback to you would be to create a highly compelling story that shows a clear rationale for why you are looking to attain an MBA. Because you are part of a highly competitive pool of MBA applicants, you want to do everything you can to stand out. I would make sure your story includes a cohesive narrative of 1) who you are, your passion, and your goals, 2) why you are qualified for a top 10-25 MBA program and 3) why an MBA is essential to reach your goals. Having a clear narrative of why you need an MBA at this moment of your life will make your application successful, and show the strong need for an MBA while also showcasing your fit with top programs.
