A few more thoughts on similar lines for you sushiboy:
  1. The overall profile contours look healthy. R&D work though could be a bit removed from typical business profiles on offer. So think hard and deep about what kind of roles would you target/fit in post-MBA.
  2. For reasons mentioned here, we do not speculate on school selection. That said, most good GMAT based programs expect 4-5 years of solid experience. Since you already are on a good trajectory, it might make sense to put in at least another year and make the most of it.
  3. If you do the above, then (or even without), a GMAT retake, most so given your good academic pedigree so far, is a bit of a no-brainer frankly. Your specific peer group frequently scores in the range of what your original target was. So don't think twice on that front.
  4. While the ECs sound good, it is not clear if any of those are recent? If not, that could be a potential blind spot worth attacking.
