Dropped a year for CAT preparation but it did not materialise so thought of getting some work experience before going for MBA
2 years work experience in EY in corporate and international taxation. 1 year 8 months as taxation manager in another company.
Left it to pursue a job in government sector.
Now working as an administrative officer accounts specialist in one of the 4 general insurance PSUs in India since a year.I an handling the coinsurance business of more than Rs 300 crore for my regional office.
On extra curricular front, I have been one of the few Indian delegates at the Harvard Project for Asian and International relations HPAIR held in hongkong in 2016 in the Humanitarian tracks.
I have learnt lot of different dance styles and had my own belly dance classes for a while.
I want to apply for the one year MBA programs next year as my experience would be over 5 years and I would like to move out of government sector to core strategy roles.
Would love some insights on my profile and my chances at IIMA, IIMB, IIMC, IIML, SPJIMR, ISB.
first preference is SPJIMR as I got married last year and wish to stay in Mumbai itself.
Planning to take GMAT early next year with expected score 700+

Hi Bhavz10, thanks for reaching out. I think your profile is strong for those target schools. Your mix of private sector and public sector work is interesting/compelling, and with 5 years experience you will fit the profile well for a one year program like SPJIMR. Your academic background sounds strong, so now you'll need to round that out with a strong GMAT performance. Agree you should target 700 -- 680/690 is probably doable for SPJIMR but to be on the safe side and to improve your chances at a program like ISB, I would aim for 700. As far as extracurriculars, the Harvard project sounds interesting and is good international exposure -- is that something you remain involved with? If not, then current extracurricular involvement could be another small gap worth addressing before you apply.

The Harvard conference was a week long conference and not something I am currently involved with. Also, I wish to apply for some one year European schools. Could you suggest some Bschools where I have a good chance with my profile and expected 710+ score on the GMAT? I wish to get into strategy consulting post MBA.
