GMAT mock 1: 740
Mock #2: 720
Mock #3: 740
Mock #4: 710
Real GMAT: 690 (Q46, V39)

Have been prepping for GMAT since mid Nov 2021. Gave the exam on March 17, 2022. Prep done is from Jamboree online classes, OG, Verbal guide, Advanced OG.

Mocks also given: Manhattan (690)

Want to give the second attempt around Mid-April. Target score is 720+.

Can anyone share tips to take Q score to 49+

Posted from my mobile device

Hi ankitchawla ,

First of all congrats on 690 !! it's a good score.

For Quant Just follow TTP. You can get Q50-Q51 Easily by just following his approach to solve problems. Pro's: monthly pack is available too for TTP.

Also can you please share your mock score breakups. Also in which Chapters of Quant you are facing the difficulty most? If possible, Get your ESR. it will surely help to understand where you went wrong in GMAT.

Hi ankitchawla.

The main thing you can do to increase your quant score is master one of your weaker areas of quant at a time.

In other words, you know that there are some kinds of quant questions you're confident answering and happy to see and others that you'd prefer not to see on your GMAT. So, the ones that you'd rather not see indicate your weaker areas, and to increase your score, you would work on those areas.

To master a weaker quant area, you'd review the associated concepts and then practice by answering questions of that type until you virtually can't get them incorrect.

For some more tips for increasing your quant score, see this post.

Also, you could increase you score by improving overall accuracy. So, for some tips on increasing accuracy, see this post.

Hi ankitchawla,

First off, a 690/Q46 is a strong Score, so it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. As such, a retest might not be necessary. Depending on the Schools that you plan to apply to, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

https://gmatclub.com/forum/ask-admissio ... tants-124/

That all having been said, you clearly have an opportunity to pick up points in both the Quant and Verbal sections - and with a few tweaks, you could potentially score consistently into the mid-700s. Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) Over the last 3 months, how many hours did you typically study each week?
2) What “brands” of CATs/mocks have you used?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
4) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

If you took your Official GMAT at a Test Center, then you might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.

Update: Got 710! (Q48, V40)

In my 3 weeks before both my attempts, I went hard over all the 700+ level Qs I could find on GMATClub. Consistently attempted 50-60 every day. Went to the center with much better confidence than the first time. Saw a 700+ score, just accepted it and ran out from the center.

Damn. What a moment of relief!

Thanks!

Just one thing: Will IR5 hinder my chances to get an admit? Is that an issue? Read someplace it is important for tie-breakers

Hi ankitchawla,

From the discussions I've had about this with school representatives, I don't think that a score of 5 on IR will be a problem, or that decisions come down to IR scores. Apart from schools like INSEAD (INSEAD "recommends" 6 or 6+, but even they are careful to say that lower scores are not unacceptable), most schools just don't care enough about IR for a 5 to be a problem. You could of course, reach out to your target schools and ask them directly.

Unless you're looking for a reason to take the exam again, I'd say that you're all set. :)
