Dear admission consultants,
I am planning to pursue an accounting Phd in the US or Canada. Here is my profile.
740 Gmat (49q 41v)
3.02 Undergrad GPA (graduated in 2003 in top 10% of the class from the best university in the Country)
3.78 Grad GPA from an IVY non-MBA masters in 2014
12 years of work experience in taxation and auditing
2 semester teaching experience in corporate finance course in one of the best state universities in country.
Teaching experience in several on the job training programs in the area of tax and accounting
10-15 papers in published in legal taxation journals
1 year of experience in an international organization in taxation
Targets :
Columbia, Rotman, Illinois, McCombs and Michigan...
Second tier targets : USC Marshall, Rice, UT Dallas, Sauder, PennState...
Thanks

You are much more experienced than the average applicant and you have a good chance of getting into these schools, with Columbia being a stretch. One important thing you will have to address is why you are applying so late in your career, since many other applicants will have less experience.

Also what is your current company and role?

Best,
Scott
Dear Scott,
Thank you for your kind answer. I am a senior tax auditor in government. So I am currently auditing taxpayers' returns, books and records. I am so late because my government sponsored my masters and I had work requirement. Requirement is over now.
Last thing I forgot that I was TA in accounting and microecon courses in my masters.

Thanks for the additional info. My assessment above remains, so now it is time to start thinking about the applications. Good luck and keep us posted on the forums!

Best,
Scott
