Hi,
Could you please review my profile?
GMAT: 740 (Q49/V41/AWA 5.5/IR 7, first attempt)
Reason for pursuing an MBA: Wanted to change career tracks from IT to finance/risk management
Target schools: Wharton (doubtful), Yale, Berkeley HAAS, MIT Sloan, Princeton, Booth, LSB
Background:
Working for 2.5 years with one promotion, rated consistently at the highest performance level in a well known IT company (rated among the top 50 smartest companies by MIT Tech review in 2015 and 2016)
Graduated with BE Computers from a deemed college with CGPA ~ 6.7
Given the above profile, does targeting these schools seem feasible? Which other schools should I target?
Would it be worthwhile to retake the GMAT? I was slightly worried about my quant score
Hey there,
So first of all, with a740 you are good!! FORGET the GMAT. You NEVER need to take it again
I’d love to help you out but without more info it’s gonna be hard. Where do you work? What do you do? How quickly have you advanced? Do you have any leadership? What are your great achievements? Do you have notable community service or extra curriculars? Which school did you graduate from?
All of these will play important roles in your evaluation.
Also you seem to be an Indian IT guy if I'm not mistaken. Keep an eye on your school list and my suggestion would be to expand it to Top 15/20 because things get very very competitive.
Finally your goals of moving from IT to finance are not good one. It's the goal of every single Indian IT guy and really the only justification is because the jobs are better paid. And unless you have a strong career background which would lead you to do this. I'd suggest reconsidering your goals.
Best,
Jon
