KVKool - First, the gap between a 700 to 740 score is not significant; however, to score a 740 on the test, you will need to showcase your skills at that level to the GMAT scoring algorithm, meaning you must be able to solve questions correctly in that difficultly level. At the same time, you cannot afford to get easy questions wrong, in order to get a 740 on the test. Having said that, I personally believe that a week is too short a duration to improve your GMAT score by 40 points.

Hi, I gave 2 official mocks spread apart by a week. However, I scored 690(Q49,V35) in 1st one and 700(Q49,V35) in 2nd one. Could anyone here please help me outline what should be my preparation strategy to achieve my target of 740 within a week's prep. I plan to give my GMAT in around 8-10 days max.

Hey KVKool,

Those are great scores to start with. Having said that, I don't think a week would be enough to improve you score by 40 points. Anyway, the right thing to do would be to analyze your mocks, go through the solution of each question, compare your approach with the right one and nullify the gaps if any. And if you can identify any weak areas from the mocks, then work on them. And take timed quizzes so that you get used to the test environment. This has to be the plan. Don't stress too much. Just focus on the process. All the best :)

The chances of getting 740 aside, if you cannot change the date of your exam and you are taking it anyway, focusing more on your Verbal prep would be good. Take care to not let your Quant skills rust, though!

Hi Kvcool,

Improving to 740 in just 8 days is a pretty tall order. Any chance you can give yourself a bit more time and take the GMAT once you are truly ready to do so?
