Hi GMAT Club!
I will be applying for USA BSchools 2022 class in Round 1 and the next couple of months would be the time for visiting BSchools and attending classes before summer.
As I live in Brazil and visiting would mean investing a lot of money, I would like opinions if I should visit or not and how much would that impact my application. I do want to visit for seeing if it is a fit, if I like the environment, but the current exchange rate is not helping. So it comes down to how does it improve my chances, since I will be applying to quite competitive Bschools
I would visit east coast schools: HBS, Wharton, Booth and Kellogg
What do you guys think?
Thanks!!
Visting b-schools is definitely a great idea, but not at a big inconvenience to yourself, and b-schools understand that. Here are ways you can get to know a b-school without visiting:
1. Attend their event when they come visiting your city/ country (the cost of travel will still be cheaper).
2. Sometimes alumni host coffee chats- visit these.
3. Meet- up or connect with alumni/students through your own networking.
4. Attend online webinar/ chat sessions
5. Connect with Student ambassadors/ club representatives.
6. Some b-schools have online master-classes register for these- you'll still get a sense of what the teaching is like.
Your b-school research will be at its best when you are able to get insights that are specific to your academic and career needs. Sometimes conversations with students and alumni can be superficial and limited to generic advice. If you have already done research about the MBA before you connect with students, then you can ask better questions that evoke better answers.
So long as you are able to do this properly, you will gain crucial insights about the program that will help you build a strong case for your target MBA programs.
So don't worry too much about visiting.
