Hi CherikaJain94,

If you have gotten 'stuck' at a particular Score level, then continuing to study in the same ways as before might not be the best course of action (espeically if you developed any 'bad habits' during your studies that you will end up simply repeating over the next month). Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School and what Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,

Hi CherikaJain94,

To improve your quant skills, you may find it helpful to engage in topical quant practice.

For example, let’s say that you want to practice Number Properties. You can do so by answering 50 or more questions just from Number Properties: LCM, GCF, units digit patterns, divisibility, remainders, etc.

After each problem set, thoroughly analyze your incorrect questions. For example, if you got a remainder question wrong, ask yourself why. Did you make a careless mistake? Did you not properly apply the remainder formula? Was there a concept you did not understand in the question?

By carefully analyzing your mistakes, you will be able to fix your weaknesses efficiently and, in turn, improve your GMAT quant skills. Number Properties is just one example; follow this process for all quant topics.

My biggest struggle all this while was verbal - I’m in the v36 to v40 range.

If you think your fundamentals are solid, consider working on your solving approach. May sound strange but it's a large part of what I actually tutoring Verbal students for. That being said, if it's only SC, for example, you struggle with, figuring out precisely what is causing the issue could be helpful. Perhaps the way you think about pronoun usage could be improved. Maybe you aren't completely solid with how parallelism works in certain situations.

Hi CherikaJain94.

To maintain and possibly increase your high quant score:

- Work on some weaker areas to ensure that you are ready to answer any type of quant question you see. Every additional quant question you get correct pushes your GMAT total score a little higher even if it doesn't seem to affect your quant section score.

To work on a weaker area, first, review the relevant concepts and strategies, then do practice questions in that area UNTIMED until you're achieving high accuracy, and finally, work on reducing the time per question until you're correctly answering questions in that area at test pace.

- Do high accuracy-focused practice, as discussed in this post. The Best GMAT Practice Methods

To increase your verbal score, check out what's covered in this video. I'm pretty sure you'll get just the ideas you need.
