No i got 2 questions in a RC wrong and 1 question in another RC wrong! I simply do not understand how I was able to score V38 with 13 wrong, V40 with 9/10 wrong in GMATPrep 1 and 2 with no seen before questions in either of them. However, ended up with 11 wrong and a V score of 34! I simply cannot understand this in fact this was the first time i completed verbal section with 2 minutes to spare and felt confident!

I can understand the frustration. In the third attempt, the average difficulty of the questions was less than that of the earlier exams. That's the possible explanation. No i got 2 questions in a RC wrong and 1 question in another RC wrong! I simply do not understand how I was able to score V38 with 13 wrong, V40 with 9/10 wrong in GMATPrep 1 and 2 with no seen before questions in either of them. However, ended up with 11 wrong and a V score of 34! I simply cannot understand this in fact this was the first time i completed verbal section with 2 minutes to spare and felt confident!

Two pieces of somewhat contradictory advice about the algorithm, specifically as it pertains to your Verbal:
1) Yes, the front-loaded scoring algorithm still matters a lot! Your first 25% of responses to the counted questions will have a huge impact on your score.
2) Try not to worry too much about this fact. The entire test counts, and of course you are trying to get every question right. There is an element of randomness to the GMAT, which is why the number of re-takes continues to rise. That being said, if you need a little extra time at the beginning, then take it, and feel free to be more aggressive at the end.
In some ways the GMATPrep tests are a better true measure of your performance than is the actual GMAT, because the GMATPrep tests do not include any experimental questions, while the real test includes approximately 25% experimental questions.
