Given: The angles of a triangle are in the ratio of 2:3:4.

Asked: What is the degree measure of the smallest angle?

Let the angles be 2x, 3x & 4x.

2x+3x+4x = 9x = 180
x=20

Smallest angle = 2x = 2*20 =40

IMO C

Let the three angles be 2x,3x,4x .The sum of three angles is 2x+3x+4X=180.9x=180,x=20.So smallest angle is 2x=40.therefore correct choice is "C"

The angles are in a ratio of 2:3:4, implying the smallest correspond to 2.
Smallest angle =(2/(2+3+4))*180
=(2*180)/9 = 40.

given 9x=180 ; x=20
so smallest angle ; 40

$$\frac{2}{(2+3+4)}*180 = 40$$, Answer must be (C)

9x=180. x=20. Smallest angle is 2x which is 40.

We can create the equation:

2x + 3x + 4x = 180

9x = 180

x = 20

Thus, the smallest angle is 2(20) = 40 degrees.
