Hi believenray.

First off, 690 with Q45 is still a pretty solid score. So, you should be happy about what you have accomplished so far.

Second, since you did not complete the TTP course, in full, I’m not totally shocked that your GMAT score slipped a bit on test day. For maximizing your quant score, it’s imperative that you follow the study plan and complete all chapter tests and review tests that we ask you to complete. I'm sure that, by skipping many of those tests, you did not fully develop your knowledge of and skills in certain quant topics, and additionally, I’m sure that many topics you learned early on in your prep slipped through the cracks. The good news is that your plan going forward should be quite simple. Dive back into TTP, complete the course, in full, and there’s no reason why you can’t hit your GMAT quant score goal on test day. Certainly, if you have any further questions regarding your plan moving forward, reach out to me directly, and we can jump on a call.

Let’s do this!!

Hello ,
I don't know why do you need specifically 700+ with a 47Q+ ? It is better if you clarify your specification so that expert can help you.

Your actual score is closed to your mock test-you should not cancel it until YOU need SPECIFIC score which is 710+ with Q47. Are these practice exam scores from GMATPrep mock test?

You can try to solve official questions from @Debral 's website which is FREE of cost (i am talking about official GMAT books solution).
Thanks__

Thanks for getting back to me! I plan on applying to b school after residency (for me it must be a top 10 or its not worth the investment). My advisor recommended retaking it because my score was sub 700 and my quant score was low. He said b-schools look at quant more and I personally feel I could improve my quant score.

edit: and the practice tests were both official ones from the mba website

For quant:
I think you should try hard level quant questions. You should not bother for verbal part at all! You can try Online Challenge Problem Archive – 1 Year for hard level quant questions. Or, you should contact with IanStewart for hard level quant questions.
Thanks__

Hi believeinray,

First off, a 690/Q45 is a really strong Score, so it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. As such, a retest might not be necessary. Your Admissions Expert brings up a good point though. Many Business Schools view an Applicant's Quant Scaled Score as an indicator of how that Applicant might handle the 'academic side' of the Program - and a Q45 won't impress anyone. That score implies that you did fairly well on most of the "math" questions that you saw on Test Day, but you missed out on a block of 'strategy-based' points. This is meant to say that by focusing on Quant Tactics, you'll be better able to increase your GMAT Score AND better impress how Business School Admissions Officers will view your potential to handle their respective Programs.

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying:

1) Since you're currently a medical student, how many hours do you typically study for the GMAT each week?
2) Were those 2 practice CATs the only ones that you took over the last 3 months? On what dates did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
3) Do you have your next Test Date scheduled yet or are you generally thinking about retesting at the end of March?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
