I am a London Business School graduate and used to interview candidates for the school for 7 years.
I love your profile, although a bit confused (you mention you are British, but it seems your university and beginning of professional life was in India)
From what I can see:
- --- GMAT – yes, yes, yes
- --- Academics – yes, average GPA doesn’t sound so wonderful but add this to a semester at LSE plus your high GMAT and all is good here!
- --- Work Experience –WOW, really excited to hear about your fast-track promotion and career progress. Both ZS and Tata are Tier 1 known brands. Well done!
- --- Volunteer Work– Excellent – nice to see you are involved in various activities and helping the community!
- --- Hobbies – ???
- --- School wish list – ??? except LBS?
Summary
- 1. Great profile!
- 2. timing - yes, a bit young, but even if you apply in R1, you will have 3 years of experience and 4 on matriculation, that’s not too young! So, it is not clear to me why you are “waiting” till R2 (I think you are doing this to gain 4 more months of professional experience? If so, you don’t need to!
- 3. Should you apply this year or next? UP TO YOU! yes, your profile will be stronger next year, BUT, you might (with strong applications!) make it into a top school this year, so why wait?
Only you can answer this!
And just by the way, many candidates think you only get one shot, and LBS will not accept reapps. well. that is wrong. 3 out of my 4 reapps (that didn't work with me last year) got into LBS this year! …

Academics:-
10th (UP State Board): 74%
12th (UP Board of Intermediate Education): 76%
B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (BBDNITM): 76%
M.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (National Institute of Technology, Durgapur): 8.72/10 CGPA
GMAT - 760, Q51 & V41
Work Experience:-
8 Years Work Ex., Project Engineer, Siemens Ltd
I am having Eight years of experience in the power sector. My stint in power sector has allowed me to experience various problems and challenges that the power industry is facing and has also given me the chance to work on various parts of project management – right from planning to implementation to execution. I have also closely worked with my international counterparts from companies from Germany, Ohio, US.
I handled 5 plus at given point of time with a team more than 5 people.
My role includes coordinating with Internal/ External partners, Internal such as Engg., Commercial, Project Mgt., counterparts from various locations of company and External – Customers, Suppliers/Vendors, Contractors. I am also engaged in coordinating project timelines with internal departments and external stakeholders and monitoring project timelines and deadlines.
Extra curricular:
While in Job:
Active team member of Great place to work Initiative.
Core committee member of Company Annual Day function and take a leadership for making the schedule and strategies to make it happen successful.
Organizing the departmental excursion trips
Development/customization of IT tools and services
While in College:
Training and placement representative from our branch. Here I was used to contact different company and conduct the smooth recruitment process on the campus.
Core member of Annual college fest and Gymkhana member. It is sport and cultural club of college, we raise the funding and sponsorship from the various organization such as SAIL, DVC.. and conducted the fest.
Received ONGC scholarship for outstanding performance on academic in the 1st and 2nd semester.
Participated in NSS(National social services) and encouraged the social backward children for study of nearby villages.
Hobbies:
Playing volleyball and Badminton
Target School- LBS, Judge, Said
Post-MBA goals: Consulting, Strategy, Project management

Starting with the stats, your undergrad GPA is good and you have a solid GMAT score so, this part is pretty sorted for you. Now, your work experience appears to be great. I see you have taken on leadership responsibilities and worked on large projects, which could highlight compelling stories. You also have some international experience since you have worked with international counterparts. If you effectively present stories about how it has widened your viewpoint and shaped your personality, it does put you in a great spot. For LBS you will need to show a global outlook and ability to work in a multicultural team.
Your ECs at work and in college demonstrate that you are a mature leader. You'll need to highlight elements of your personality that show compassion, as well as examples of how you've assisted people in your professional and personal life. Your hobbies are also beneficial since they may highlight various aspects of your personality. So it all comes down to how you portray yourself to the adcoms.
Your post-MBA goals make sense. Make sure your include how a particular b-school will help you in filling gaps in your profile and achieving your goals. You may be eligible for a scholarship (it depends on your overall profile, though). We helped one of our applicants gain admission to LBS with a 100% scholarship. I'd like to learn more about your profile, such as your career progression, social impact, and community involvement (if any). Overall, you have a good profile and a chance at LBS, Judge, and Said.
