Hey Guys,

Just started to prepare my applications for the McMaster MBA. A brief of my profile:

5 years of work experience in business consulting, marketing and sales. Work experience primarily in telecommunications and cloud computing.

Bachelor in engineering, Visvesvaraya technology university Bangalore, 59%

GMAT: 560 q42 v25

Can’t retake gmat since I am working professional. Took me a year to prep. I am confident my overall profile can compensate for the gaps.

For my work exp the FT mba is the best fit, don’t mind taking it since I have worked with Canadian clients in my job.

Do I have any chances of acceptance?

Also, how much would be the cost of the entire program? The info on the websites are very confusing.

Looking for MBAs in the Toronto, Montreal region as my past employers have a strong presence here. Would be great if guys can suggest other programs based on my profile.

Hey guys,
I wanted to ask if anyone could provide some insight on the "Please provide any other information you feel would be helpful to us in making a decision on your application" question. I'm unsure if this is a question to explain any reasons why GMAT or GPA is lacking, or talk about previous work experiences, or if this is a introduction of yourself?

Hey! I think I mostly took it as an opportunity to talk about why an MBA makes sense for my career path and what unique perspectives I can bring through my experiences. I think the opportunity to discuss your grades is in a previous question, asking if your grades accurately reflect your ability.

Hi!
I've seen people with similar profiles to yours get accepted into FT at DeGroote, so I wouldn't be overly worried. If you don't get an acceptance, however, I'd really recommend retaking your GMAT with a focus on verbal as a 600 is generally seen as competitive for DeGroote, with scores no lower than 27 in verbal and 37 in quant.

For cost, the full time program is about 40,000 overall for domestic students and 80,000 overall for international students from my understanding. Here is where I'm getting this information: https://mbastudent.degroote.mcmaster.ca ... ntal-fees/

Apply for the Coop program in DeGroote only if you have 50 lakhs with you ..!!

I got a final admit in the program and I enquire about the fee so came to know about this fact .

Looks like I cannot afford the program... I have a budget of around 20-25lacs INR... Is there any other programs near Toronto or Montreal that will fit my budget apart from Ryerson.

I have heard about the Lazaridis MBA... But I am not sure about it’s reputation.. anyone here can throw some light on this program?

Lazaridis is a solid program, and you'd be eligible for their 1 year program which runs at 44,000 CAD for international students. Their minimum GMAT is 550 so you meet all requirements from what I can tell!

Hey arpit,

I have dropped an email to the Lazaridis MBA contact. The website says they prefer international students apply before January. But not sure if they still open to applications cause they have a rolling admission process.

As for other choices, my dream choices would be near Toronto since my current and past employers as well as clients have big offices here. Ryerson and Brock are the only options i see. Brock is very poorly rated would stay away from it all day.

Besides them, i am looking at UVIC Peter B Gustavson MBA, a coop mba with a student exchange program. They've tie ups with top B schools in the world. They've tie ups with IIM Bangalore too so found it interesting. There is also Asper MBA where you can do professional certifications like CPA, CBAP along with the MBA program. But neither of these cities have a great job market, although Victoria is a 2hr ferry ride from Vancouver you could risk going there because of its proximity to Vancouver.

If you're looking for some certifications Asper is a good place.

I'm also looking at Sobey school at Halifax, liked their curriculum and structure.

This is my list for now... Ryerson and lazaridis will be my first choice programs... For backup will apply to one of the other places...

Thanks for the info karthik , i applied in RYERSON 3 weeks back . Didnt get any communication from then yet . Waiting for them . I will apply in concordia as well .
Yes you are right Brock is not a good option . Will check UVIC .

Can anyone tell me if they used academic references or professional references for the co-op program? I am a bit confused since the referee description says "Please provide the names and contact information for at least two instructors most familiar with your academic work"
