Hi I have my interview tomorrow. It is the 30 minute Skype Behavioral interview. Could anybodytell me what type of questions I should be expecting? Should I also be expecting classic interview questions like "tell me about yourself" "why MBA" etc.

thanks,

Emilio

Hi Emilio,

Yes, your interview might begin with these questions only. This gives the interviewer an opportunity to know you better and it also gives you the opportunity to give a good first impression. The initial questions will revolve around your work experience (run through your CV), educational background and then lean towards why MBA and why Degroote?
You need to prepare for these question because you would want to finish every answer in not more than 2-3 minutes. The interviewer also feels good when he/she knows that you have come with good preparation. Then after this, there will be some behavioral and situational questions, which basically mean that they will put you in a situation and will expect you to come up with a solution.
Don't be worried, just remember your stories and how you want to portray your personality in front of the interviewer.

Note: The interviewer will be writing notes during the interview. So don't get distracted by that and don't feel that they are not listening to you. Be confident and stick to your original stories.

All the best!

Thank you very much for the reply. I appreciate it

Just out of curiosity, have any of you sat for the Dalhousie corporate Residency MBA interview as well? I have will be taking it tomorrow and I am not really sure what to expect. I was told that there will be two people interviewing me through skype and that I will have to answer some math problems during the interview. Any advice is appreciated.

Admitted to Co-op MBA program with Dean's entrance scholarship. Also admitted to Dalhousie Corporate residency MBA. I am leaning towards McMaster but I am also awaiting answers from two other schools I interviewed for.

Emilio95 : Hi, Congratulations on the admit and the scholarship :)

sanketk : Hi. You have a strong GMAT and as far as I can understand, the only issue I see is the work experience. They require a minimum of 2 years of work experience for any international candidate and unfortunately the internship experience doesn't count.
Also, if you could give some details about your profile and the interview experience, then the people in this forum might help you in a better way to find out the gaps in your profile.
Regarding other universities, I would suggest wait for Sep, 2019 intake and apply again with the same score. As I have told you, the score is enough to get into any good college in Canada. You just need to increase your work experience.

Hey everyone!

I received my offer of admission a couple of days ago with the DeGroote School of Business MBA Entrance Scholarship. I've been wrestling with making a decision between the Alberta School of Business and the DeGroote School of Business as I have an admit from both. Being an international applicant, this has been a very tough decision since the DeGroote MBA is quite expensive compared to the UAlberta MBA and the ROI from the latter is very attractive. But DeGroote is close to Toronto and the job opportunities will invariably be better, albeit more contested.

Anyone else in the same predicament or with inputs for me? Maybe some citizens/residents on the forum who can help out? I am looking to immigrate to Canada w/ a PR and I'm already in the pool for FSW.

Hi, just got my acceptance to the Degroote program with 2k Scholarship. App details:

720 GMAT, 3.2 GPA, 2 ish years work experience in Customer Service, domestic applicant. They seem to have changed things, the video interview comes first then there's a really short in person interview, like 20 -25 minutes. No "walk me through your resume," just 5 quick behavioural questions and I was out of there like that. I think the interview itself didn't make a lot of difference in the acceptance, it was more just the rest of the application, particularly the GMAT score that wowed them.

The question now is, do I still pursue the Wilfrid Laurier application. Those were the only 2 schools that I applied to, and I'm having a hard time seeing what Wilfrid Laurier offers that DeGroote doesn't. Apparently you get access to their career centre for life, but ideally you should be able to find jobs for yourself once you've built up your network. Not to mention that Wilfrid Laurier is a blip on the radar for most world wide rankings, whereas McMaster still comes in the top 10 for Canada. I think I'll sit the interview for Laurier but go with Degroote.

Hi everyone..
Can anybody validate my work experience?
I have been working at Canadian Tire Financial Services as a Fraud monitor specialist/Retail banking for almost one and a half year now? Is it acceptable for MBA Co-op?

Much needed answer.

Thanks.

I will be having work experience (international) of over 4.5 years by the time I apply for a degroote mba. Will I be eligible for the Co-op program?

Hi ami1011 your work ex definitely seems to meet their criteria for a co op! The average work ex for international co op students is 2 years and since you’ve been working in Canada already, you have a solid chance. (This info is based on my research about the school and their website).

hi lleinad you can request a pre assessment from their website. I would recommend you apply with 3.5 years of work ex which you currently hold, because if you have too much work ex you might get end up being considered for a full time mba by the adcom. but again this is just what i think and have read. Best way is to request a pre assessment.
