The question deals with with scenario of using a software and extending license of the same to team member, basic info provided in question stem is as follows -

1. Approval is must before any employee use software
2.Approval --> License issues --> Software made available
3. Project begins only after software approval
4.software use only during the official project timeline
5.usage logs must be submitted within 15 days after the project concludes.

Now coming to options, by process of elimination last two options are not discussed in the question stem and the third option is not in violation of any conditional requirement, so eliminate.

Now
Option 1, must be false ---> refer to Sl. No. 1 of above basic pointers
Option 2, must be true ---> refer to SL No. 4 of the above basic pointers

The policy establishes a strict sequence: a license request must be approved before the software is used. The project team adhered to all relevant policies.

“The project manager’s team used the software for the project only during the official project timeline.”
This is a direct restatement of a policy requirement. Since the team complied with all policies, this statement must be true.

“The project manager submitted a license request after a team member had already started using the software for the project.”
This violates the required sequence of events (request must come before use). Since the team complied with the policy, this statement must be false.

Thus:

“Must be true”
=
“The project manager’s team used the software for the project only during the official project timeline.”

and

“Must be false”
=
“The project manager submitted a license request after a team member had already started using the software for the project.”

A) False. We are told that the software can only be used once licensing is approved so no team member could be using the software before the PM submitted a request.

B) True. The software may only be used during official project time line per the last sentence of paragraph 1.

C-E) We do not have enough information to conclude if any of these are true or false.

A company has a policy governing the use of software licenses and the reporting of software usage for internal projects. According to the policy, a project manager must submit a license request and receive approval before any employee may use the software. Once the request is approved, licenses may be assigned to employees, and the software is made available. A project officially begins only after the software has been made available. Employees may use the software only during the official project timeline, and usage logs must be submitted within 15 days after the project concludes.

A project manager obtained a software license for the project and ensured that both the project manager and the team members complied with all policy requirements.

The project manager submitted a license request after a team member had already started using the software for the project.
According to the policy, "a project manager must submit a license request and receive approval before any employee may use the software." Were told that the project manager and team members "complied with all policy requirements." Therefore, this statement MUST BE FALSE.
The project manager's team used the software for the project only during the official project timeline.
The policy states that "Employees may use the software only during the official project timeline," and we're told that everyone "complied with all policy requirements." Therefore, this statement MUST BE TRUE.
The project manager submitted the usage logs exactly 10 days after the project ended.
The policy requires that "usage logs must be submitted within 15 days after the project concludes." While submitting logs after 10 days would comply with this requirement, we don't know if it was exactly 10 days. It could have been any number of days from 1 to 15. This statement is not necessarily true or false.
A team member identified the need for the software for the project.
The passage doesn't provide any information about who identified the need for the software. This statement is not necessarily true or false.
The majority of the project-related expenses were related to licensing the software.
The passage doesn't provide any information about project expenses or the cost of licensing. This statement is not necessarily true or false.
Therefore:
* Must be true: The project manager's team used the software for the project only during the official project timeline.
* Must be false: The project manager submitted a license request after a team member had already started using the software for the project.

Ans:
Must be True: second statement
Must be False: 1st statement

Step by step Policy: (for using the software)
1. project manager must submit a license request before any employee may use the software
2. receive approval
3. Once the request is approved, licenses assigned to employees,
4. and the software is made available.
5. A project officially begins after the software has been made available.
6. Employees may use the software only during the official project timeline
7. when the project is concluded -> usage logs must be submitted within 15 days after the project concludes.

A project manager obtained a software license for the project and ensured that both the project manager and the team members complied with all policy requirements.

1. The project manager submitted a license request after a team member had already started using the software for the project (Must be False as per the policy) First Licence and only then usage.

2. The project manager’s team used the software for the project only during the official project timeline. (Must be True to follow the policy)

3. The project manager submitted the usage logs exactly 10 days after the project ended. (Not necessarily - log can be submitted within 15 days so may or may not 10 days)

4. A team member identified the need for the software for the project. (Not necessary - as nothing is said about who identified the need)

5. The majority of the project-related expenses were related to licensing the software. (Nothing is said about the expenses, policy is regarding the use of the software)

The project manager submitted a license request after a team member had already started using the software for the project. This statement must be false because the team member cannot start the project before getting approval after submitting the software license request. This violates the policy

The project manager’s team used the software for the project only during the official project timeline. This must be true as this statement is as per the policy and not bringing any new information.

Choice (A): MUST BE FALSE since "According to the policy, a project manager must submit a license request and receive approval before any employee may use the software."

Choice (B): MUST BE TRUE since "Employees may use the software only during the official project timeline, and usage logs must be submitted within 15 days after the project concludes."

Everything else COULD BE TRUE because either no information mentioned in the stimulus or no violation of the policy such as choice (C)

Here (The project manager submitted a license request after a team member had already started using the software for the project.) must be false because its explicitly mentioned in the para that a software can be used only after approval.

(The project manager’s team used the software for the project only during the official project timeline.)must be true because in the para it says employees can use only during the project timeline.

The other options are can/cannot be true or irrelevant.

A. The project manager submitted a license request after a team member had already started using the software for the project. => As given team complied with the policy so this must be false

B. The project manager’s team used the software for the project only during the official project timeline. => again as team complied with the policy that means they used software only during the project timeline so this must be true

C. The project manager submitted the usage logs exactly 10 days after the project ended. => the given timeline to be complied is within 15 days. so maybe project manager did it in 10 days or 12 days it will still be valid or may be or may be not so not the ans

D. team member identified the need for the software for the project. => again this may be or maybe not what if project manager found need. also policy does not state anything about this so not the ans

E. The majority of the project-related expenses were related to licensing the software. => again expenses are not in the scope so not the ans

This is what the flow of the process looks like based on the info given:

Project manager submits a license request > Receives approval for the software > Licences are assigned to the employees in the team > the software is made available > Project kicks-off > Employees begin using the software and use it during the official project timeline > Usage logs are submitted within 15 days after the project ends

Let's look at the answer choices:

The project manager submitted a license request after a team member had already started using the software for the project.
  • The condition mentioned in the argument is that the manager must put in the request before the project begins. Since employees are not assigned the licenses and the software is not made available to them, they cannot be using it. This statement is FALSE.
The project manager’s team used the software for the project only during the official project timeline.
  • This is true basis the info given in the prompt - Employees may use the software only during the official project timeline. Thus, this must be TRUE.
The project manager submitted the usage logs exactly 10 days after the project ended.
  • S(h)e could have submitted the logs at exactly 10 or even 14 days after the project ended, and s(h)e still would not be breaching the process mentioned. Eliminate
A team member identified the need for the software for the project.
  • Whether a team member identified the need, or the manager did, from the prompt, we cannot say if this statement is true or false. Eliminate
The majority of the project-related expenses were related to licensing the software.
  • This is irrelevant to the analysis, since, nowhere in the prompt are expenses of any kind mentioned. Eliminate
