Hi ,
This forum is really helpful, thanks to everyone contributing.
My question is, i have graduated from a University at which lessons are taught in english. I also took toefl today and requested the scores to be sent several MBA schools but I do not know what my score will look like so now I am judging whether my action was right or not.
I already graduated from a school providing education in english. Most of the schools claim that it is enough. That is why I wonder what will happen when my toefl score reach to MBA schools and it is not good enough ? Will I be still appropriate to show the document that my undergraduate school was in english? Will they take into account my toefl instead of checking the language of my undergraduate ?
I am really anxious about this issue. Does anyone have any idea?
Hi. Thanks for posting, it is a complicated question. With some weird exclusions it comes down to something like this:
If your school was in an English-speaking country such as US, UK, Australia, etc - you do not need to take TOEFL
If your school was in a non-English-speaking country such as France, Germany, India, etc - you will need to take TOEFL even if your classes were in English unless the school specifically grants this exemption - here is the language from Kellogg for example:
"The applicant completed an undergraduate or graduate degree at a college or university where English was the ONLY language of instruction" I believe Ross, Tuck, Yale and others provide them as well - need to check the website. This is an exception and the standard norm is to force you to take the TOEFL. Hopefully your English is good enough after 4 years of undergrad. Keep in mind:
"If you qualify for this exemption, you must provide the exact URL or documentation from your institution that states English was the only language of instruction. If you graduated from an Indian institution that does not explicitly state this, please provide the URL for the homepage of the school’s website." Source:
