Just wanted to add my weekly post. This wait is annoying! I'm procrastinating by planning my marathon training timetable for the next 3 months.

ps. Dear Chicago & New York, I'm looking at you.

the worst thing is that there's no one D-day and different schools reply at different times, dragging out the misery. so whilst I will get an admit/deny from one school next week, I have another interview the week after and the torment begins again! in the meantime I could get an interview decision from my other applications this week. or next week. or never...

here's the humane way to do it. read the applications, post interview decisions online, collate interview feedback and make decisons, post decisions online at the same time. AND do all this at the same time as other schools are doing it!

That none of the "top 15" schools court you...they don't have to show interest. I just got a frickin cool ass grab bag/box of freebies from Wisconsin's dept of Brand Management - them, Kelley, Darden, Notre Dame, and Emory have all been very proactive at stalking me...too bad I'm just another blip on the radar to Kellogg, Wharton, and Harvard

I just came home to a swag package from Wisconsin as well =) I'll make good use of the free food and the household items. Now I know where the Wisconsin MBA's tuition goes to. The shipping charge alone was ~$10. I wish more schools would court me with free stuff. Too bad I'm already spoken for.

i totally agree

one of the good aspects of schools that ONLY give decision on d-day at a specific time

at least you wont need to check your email like couple hundred times per day

LOL, I wonder how effective these gifts have been? They should've been accompanied by fee waivers as well if they really wanted people to bite

I think it does a decent job at raising awareness of UWI's MBA program. And if you consider that most if not all of the swag they're sending is donated by companies so their cost is limited to shipping, they'd only need to get one student out of every 8000 boxes they send to break even. So while I can't imagine that people who are accepted to top tier programs would turn down the offer and attend UWI because of some schwag ("Awesome, I got into Kellogg! But UWI sent me a coffee mug so I'll go there"), it probably does have a positive ROI for them.

not really venting, just babbling since it's a slow day at work. anyone else ever get these intrinsic, gut feelings about where you'll end up? i try not to pay too much attention to them because i don't want to be disappointed if it doesn't turn out that way, but i can't help but daydream about the school that i really want to go to and have a better shot at getting into (i.e., i'd love to be dreaming about HBS right now, but it's not the school i have a good gut feeling about  )

ok, back to emails.

Just wanted to comment that the oreos from my second swag bag from Winsconsin were delicious. Too bad my dog got ahold of the stuffed Target puppy.

I feel your pain, man! I got dinged by HBS, and if I don't hear anything from Sloan soon, that one's gonna be a ding, too. 3 more schools to go in R2, and I've got no motivation, or is it more motivation?

don't lose hope guys! If you get interview from anywhere that's an indication of a strong applicant already, focus on improving your essays and recs, and keep trying!

Dude I feel your pain man. This is actually my last year to get an MBA, its now or never and I just got rejected from my dream school as well after botching the interview.

Frankly I don't know which is worse, getting an interview invite, botching it and knowing that you will never get another chance in this life time, or just not getting invited at all.

Funny how lurking the board last year, I said to myself "how can people ask such trivial questions? why are they sweating bullets over the smallest things?"

now i find myself fretting over 11pt font, font type, 1.5 spacing, and jumping every time an email from a school comes into my inbox. i promised myself i was going to stay cool, let's see how it goes.
