"I am targeting close to V40."

What total score are you aiming for? You may not need a V40 per se.

Here's a grid that could give you a rough idea what combo score to go for - https://gmatclub.com/forum/gmat-scoring ... 88156.html

I plan to take the exam again in two weeks due to application deadlines.

Could anyone suggest a specific plan or private tutoring in Verbal for this?
I really think that two weeks is not enough time for tutoring to make any fundamental difference in your concepts/results; of course, every now and then, we come across some fairy tales such as 13 point jump in 13 days, but these are just exceptions.

Identify your areas of weakness (RC/SC/CR) and specifically focus on practicing those, over the next couple of weeks. Since you have a V38 in an official exam, that would be the best case scenario that we can hope for, on your best day.

Hi Sparsh676,

First off, a 660/Q49 is a strong Score, so it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. As such, a retest might not be necessary. Depending on the Schools that you plan to apply to, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement. There's a Forum full of those Experts here:

https://gmatclub.com/forum/ask-admissio ... tants-124/

There's certainly no harm in continuing to study and retesting, but before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied? How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) What study materials have you used so far?
3) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?

Goals:
4) What is your overall goal score?
5) What Schools are you planning to apply to and what specific application deadlines are you facing?

If you took the GMAT at a Test Center, then you might also choose to purchase the Enhanced Score Report. While the ESR doesn’t provide a lot of information, there are usually a few data points that we can use to define what went wrong on Test Day (and what you should work on to score higher). If you purchase the ESR, then I'll be happy to analyze it for you.

I took the GMAT recently and scored 660(q49 v 31).

I got 710(q49 v38) in my GMATPrep 6 and 690(q50 v33) and 680(q50 v32) in GMATPrep 4 and 5 respectively.

I plan to take the exam again in two weeks due to application deadlines.

Could anyone suggest a specific plan or private tutoring in Verbal for this?

I am targeting close to V40.

Hi Sparsh676,

V31 indicates that you are having a few conceptual gaps and you need to work on your application skills. And to finish this in 14 days, you need to put in a lot of effort. It's not impossible but it takes a lot of effort from your side.

I can suggest you a proper plan if you can help me with a few more details such as the

  • way you prepared till now,
  • your weak areas in Verbal and
  • the approach you use to solve questions.

Based on this, we can take a call whether to go for private tutoring or not. I think it would be better if we can get in touch over a call and start immediately. I'll share the details with you over PM. You can use the below link to get in touch with me.

Hi Sparsh676

We focus on short time frame retakes (hence our name). The key to success in shorter prep windows is not going back to studying concepts and principles but to improve your test taking process / strategy. We offer a FREE 90 minute diagnostic to answer the critical WHY question: what's the reason why you're getting questions wrong. Most clients of ours find the missing points to their target score in process improvements. The great thing about focusing on process is each improvement can help you in multiple questions across topics. So 1 critical process improvement can help you with 4 or 5 different types of SC or CR questions. That's the kind of leverage you need to hit your target within 2 weeks.

Why not try our 90 minute FREE diagnostic session live online 1-on-1 with a GMAT performance coach. There's no obligation and our performance coaches have experience with more than 1000 clients each. You'll see the difference with a performance coach versus a tutor -- it's about efficiency, focus and rapid improvements. And the energy you get from our Testing Simulation and Skills Drills Session will overcome the fatigue from long periods of study with limited progress.

Please let me know if you're interested -- we'd love to help you get to your goal!
