Hi,
I have an admit from both ISB and Rotman, and I am in a dilemma of which should I pick between the two?
I am Indian applicant and always wanted to have a international experience for few years. In terms of permanent settlement, I am not yet fixated on the country and am open to any, including India. However, there are few questions which are making it difficult for me to choose ?
1. Degree Equivalent: ISB is a certification program, and not a degree or diploma. Will that matter if I would be looking to apply for PR or international job opportunities?
2. International Recognition : What if I complete my MBA from Rotman, and come back immediately for job opportunities in India - Will the degree be valued in Indian Job Market, and get equal recognition as ISB?
3. Job Opportunities: which course is better for consulting , and which has better recognition in US?
4. Transfer : Is it easy to move from Canada to US vs India to US for work opportunities.
5. Ranking : which is a better indicator to evaluate the university? As per FT, ISB is 28th vs Rotman 86th , whereas in QS , ISB is 98th vs Rotman 54th.
Would love to have your opinions , and looking forward for discussions.

Congratulations on your admits. Not the good news perhaps but hopeful in making your decision, as an Indian national, you will not be able to move and work in the United States after graduating from Rothman or ISB. You need to attend the business school in the United States to get the proper work permit after graduating. You would have to first get a job somewhere else and then hope to be transferred to the United States.
The positive element of Canada is that it’s a lot easier to get permanent residency than in the United States. Keep in mind however, that Canadian job market values work experience more than degrees. You will be mostly getting hired for your work experience so you need to make sure you have some good brand names.
Sorry, I can’t really comment much about ISB and India name recognition for Rotman.
PS. I would not use FT or QS rankings. As you can see, they are all over the place.

The positive element of Canada is that it’s a lot easier to get permanent residency than in the United States. Keep in mind however, that Canadian job market values work experience more than degrees. You will be mostly getting hired for your work experience so you need to make sure you have some good brand names.
Sorry, I can’t really comment much about ISB and India name recognition for Rotman.
PS. I would not use FT or QS rankings. As you can see, they are all over the place.

Hey, congrats on the admits.
Try to connect to people and get insights into life after the program in Canada and India.
That might help you lean towards one over the other.
ISB's PGP is a recognized program. On the basis of the people I know, I can safely say that it makes no difference really that ISB offers a certificate instead of a diploma or degree. Simply graduating from ISB opens up a lot of doors in the Indian job market.
Compared to ISB, Rotman does not have the same level of Brand recall in India. So, if you plan to come back at least immediate (1-2 years) after completing your MBA at Rotman, I wouldn't recommend it.
If you plan to settle in Canada, Rotman does stand as one of the best in Canada and is a clear winner.
Going from Canada to US will be an uphill battle and will not be easy like bb said.
Both colleges feed almost 25 to 30% of their class into consulting.
Personally don't think either college is at a stage where they are recognized well in the US market... Too many of the best MBA programs in the world are in the US.
Ultimately, it comes down India vs Canada and where you want to spend your life after the program because both programs are among the best in their respective demographs.
