Jones by a mile, unless you know you either don't want to be in TX or you do know you want to be on the east coast (in which case you go to McDonough) ... or ... you know you want to focus on retail / marketing consulting (in which case you want Kelley).

Check out the links in my signature block for additional info.

Thank you for the suggestion, mate!

I have heard a lot about east-coast and west-coast. If you are comfortable, would you please throw some light on the opportunities in East-Coast vs TX? Apologies, I am an international student and still researching life and opportunities in the US.

McDonough will have a better brand on the East Coast versus Jones based on the fact that McDonough is on the East Coast and a lot of their graduates are employed in that region. Strong alumni ties, strong employer ties, etc. Jones is going to be much stronger in Houston, TX and Texas in general when compared to the other schools.

Having said that, a 90% scholarship is nothing to glance over. You would have very minimal loans/out of pocket costs and would recoup that in a very short amount of time post-MBA. If you network well enough, you could land a gig outside of Texas if you went to Jones. Although, Houston, Austin and Dallas are BOOMING and phenomenal places to live and be employed in.

I'll agree with the others who've responded on the thread. Jones seems to be the best option of the three!

I would start by doing some research and talking to Kelley, McDonough, and Rice current students.

Trying to stay as brief as the tone of this topic, FYI - you will face headwinds trying to secure and offer in Consulting recruiting (chances are slim as competition is very high!) so I would say you need to work on Plan B and see if you want to pay $130K for slightly better chances at getting an interview with a consulting company.

Thank you for the response bb. By the time I would be in the US, I would have 6 years of work experience - Full Time IT Consulting. I am looking to transition into some kind of strategy consulting role - I am ok with EY, Delloitte (would try hard for the likes of BCG though).

I am keener towards McDonough (first) and Rice (second choice) because I have scholarships from both schools. Further, the brand name of McDonough is better compared to Rice (at least that's what I have heard). As per the recruitment stats on their respective websites, big-4 do substantial hiring at both the schools. As for plan B, I was thinking of continuing with IT consulting only if I don't really get strategy options.

I am currently trying to reach out to the current students to understand the placements of international students. I don't have any location constraints: I would be happy to find a job in either TX or around DC. Further, I have heard it's difficult for international students to land a job in DC - just wondering is it still true in 2020?

What are your thoughts?

Sorry. I did not know about your consulting background, so you can ignore my reply.

So bb, it won't really make any difference between McDonough and Rice since I don't have location constraints?

Take the Rice Scholarship and negotiate at least a 60% from McDonough.
In my opinion, Georgetown is a good and a well balanced consistent school with a larger Alumni network

Hello,

I am a current full-time MBA candidate and happy to help. This is a no brainer, come to Jones!!! You have a 90% scholarship and a good GMAT score, so recruiting for consulting at Jones won't be a problem. Some of my classmates are currently in the consulting recruiting process with firms such as Mckinsey, BCG, EY-Parthenon, EY Consulting, Accenture Strategy, LEK, and Kalypso. I know two Indian classmates recruiting with BCG, so I will be happy to connect you to them if you decide to go with Jones. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Best wishes!
