Question

Is (x - 2)(x - 3) > 0?

(1) x - 2 > 0
(2) x - 3 < 0

combining the two equations we can easily say that it is C. So, WHY we don't consider this question as "C trap" ? also, does this question follow the standards of GMAC?

N.B.:   Something is only a C trap if you look at the two statements and immediately KNOW that combining them will give you a unique answer to the question at the top. . That means the answer will not be C, at least!

This question is GMAT-worthy. It may be a lower-level question, but still decent. 
A slightly trickier version might be as follows:

Is (x-2) (x-3)>0?
1) x - 1 < 0
2) x - 4 < 0

Hi,
firstly its a sub 600 level Qs, so do not expect too much TRAPS in it..
secondly in ACTUALS, you will not know what is the difficulty level...
C trap basically MEANS that you be careful when you see such scenarios and do not rush for pressing C ....
But it does not mean that because it seems C, it cannot be C...

Hi, You are absolutely correct, BUt if someone is interested algebrically, what does (x-2) (x-3)>0 mean? 1) It means if x is between 2 and 3, ans is NO as (x-2) (x-3)<0 2) If x = 2 or x=3, ans is NO as (x-2) (x-3)=0 3) If x<2 OR x>3, ans is YES as (x-2) (x-3)>0 lets see the statements-- 1) x - 1 < 0 this falls in the range x<2 so ans is YES Suff 2) x - 4 < 0 all three ranges/cases can be seen so Insuff A

for x>2
for x=2.5 it is negative
for x=4 it is greater than 0.
not sufficient.

for X<3
x=1 it is greater than 0
x=2.6 it is less than 0
Not Sufficient
so Each statement alone is not sufficient but both statement together 2<x<3
(x-2)(x-3)<0
So C
