Thanks for the nice debrief. Do you have any suggestion for RC part?
All the best for your application in top-notch university.

RC was my strongest subject as I was getting 90%+ correct even with no prep. Because I used to read a lot of similar stuff growing up, a lot of it was just taking the time to understand the nuances.

The strategy that worked for me was to spend 4-5 minutes reading the passage 3-4 times before even looking at the first question. I made sure I had a good but not perfect grasp of what the purpose is, the difference ideas, how they connect to one another, etc. Once I did that I would read each question 3-4 times to make sure I understood exactly what it was asking. If it referred to a part in the passage I would go and read that part 3-4 times to perfect my understanding. From there it was trivial--I could eliminate 3 answer choices within 10 seconds because they had clear flaws that did not apply to the passage/question. The next 20 seconds would be spent finding a reason to eliminate the fourth incorrect answer.

What I like about the GMAC RC question choices is that there is always 4 incorrect answers with specific reasons why each is wrong. If you understand the nuance of the passage and the question then you can spot the fake answers right away because they have 2-3 words that change the meaning to something that doesn't relate or completely agree with the underlying passage. Sometimes the right answer isn't the most tempting one or the one that sounds the most correct; it's the one that has no flaw in meaning.

The passages are really dry and boring, so it took a lot of mental fortitude to hone in and slog through them, even for someone with a strong English background like myself. I found that meditating right before the section helped provide some focus and clarity.

Impressive. Congrats for the 780 (I envy to reach that) and welcome to the 99 percentile club!
