The incredible hand-trick is so damn effective for verbal questions. Whoever mentioned it first is a god and although I can't look up your name right now, I'll update this text to include your name here later when I have your name. Use your fingers in one hand to eliminate answer choices that are absolutely wrong (usually 2 out of 5). But this needs discipline, eliminate quickly only the ones that are absurd. Now remember your mission, convince yourself about the right answer twice.

All the best
Yes, this process is definitely fast. I continuously use this process for verbal section. Please. don't use this method for quant section. The important thing is that your brain should have adapted with your every finger. Like the middle finger could be used for choice C. Someone shared his/her finger process in his/her debrief last month. I am sorry that I have also forgotten his/her name.

And congrats for your nice score.

Hi there,

Congratulations on scoring 710. Really good improvement on GMAT verbal. It seems that the trip was extremely beneficial. With that 710, you should be good to apply to most schools worldwide. Which schools do you plan to apply to
Also, your tip on quant and verbal is quite on money

Quote:
“Summary so far - Q and V require entirely unrelated approaches. Q requires practice, slow and orderly approach and finding out the exact reason why you got stuck. V requires purpose and determination that you won't budge unless you have convinced yourself that you've found the right answer”

I would add that what you need on both Quant and Verbal is the same – you need to understand why the correct answer is correct and have solid reasons to reject other answer choices. As long as you can do that, you will improve with practice.

Lastly, anon710 – I need some help from you. We take pride in the predictive ability of SIGma-X mocks. Hence, I would like to take a look at your account. Can you tell me when you attempted the SIGma-X mocks? In addition, can you send me your account information at [email protected] so that I can see your progress on the account.

Great job once again on the test!

Ha! An anon debrief!

Congrats on your score and thank you for your debrief! Interesting points about Verbal and Quand and also GMAT Prep not being a good indicator. What GMAT Prep scores did you get? (I also feel the scores you get on Tests 1 and 2 are more precise and while tests 3-6 may not be quite different, the road to those scores is different with less adaptive tests).

bb thank you
Yes, anon because of a handful of reasons

bb, I want to stress on a few points to make sure that the right idea is conveyed from my posts. GMAT prep are good indicators, but not GREAT I'd say. Or let's just say, a test-taker shouldn't be overconfident if they score really well on preps, and shouldn't be too disappointed with 1 or 2 less than the target scores. No doubt GMAT preps are the best exams for obvious reasons. I have also added an adjective while describing my observations, and that is 'arguably controversial'. So I'm ready to be convinced otherwise.

Chronologically,

GMAT PREP 1 - 660 Q49
GMAT PREP 2 - 650 Q49
GMAT EXAM - 610 Q48
GMAT PREP 3 - 710 Q49
GMAT PREP 4 - 660 Q50
GMAT PREP 5 - 690 Q50
GMAT ONLINE - 710 Q49

V ranged from 25 to 38
