People says *GMAT doesn't test vocabulary". But, you should know the meaning of those words that are used everyday in communication. Study from official guide and if you find any word which meaning is unknown to you just use "cambridge dictionary" to know meaning of that word. Don't use any other dictionary!

Barrons is not needed for gmat.
Just make sure all the words you come across SC/CR/RC from official material (OG/VA) you know the meaning.

Efforts of remembering words, even related to Verbal section, are time consuming & less worthful as those could have been used to express different meaning. Of course, you could do so, if you have sharp memory & you can remember words at one go. In that case, you could go through 5 or 10 words, related to GMAT verbal section only, per day. Still, need not to spend more time on improving vocabulary.
