A 5
B 7
C 10
D 11
E 12

Since the answer choices are not big numbers, let’s just check each choice instead of solving the problem algebraically.

A. 5

2 + 5 = 7, 16 + 5 = 21, 20 + 5 = 25 and 52 + 5 = 57

Is 7 / 21 = 25/ 57 ? No.

B. 7

2 + 7 = 9, 16 + 7 = 23, 20 + 7 = 27 and 52 + 7 = 59

Is 9 / 23 = 27/ 59 ? No.

C. 10

2 + 10 = 12, 16 + 10 = 26, 20 + 10 = 30 and 52 + 10 = 62

Is 12 / 26 = 30/ 62 ? No.

D. 11

2 + 11 = 13, 16 + 11 = 27, 20 + 11 = 31 and 52 + 11 = 63

Is 13 / 27 = 31/ 63 ? No.

E. 12

2 + 12 = 14, 16 + 12 = 28, 20 + 12 = 32 and 52 + 12 = 64

Is 14 / 28 = 32/ 64 ? Yes, since both are 1/2.
