I was confused between E and D. And I did not go with E - only because it says "some people may purchase.....", implying that there are also people who will not buy for status symbol. This statement covers both kind of people. Hence, does not say much and is not clear (you may or may not be embarrassed).

The whole argument rest on the fact that people would be embarassed when the guest know about the source of sparkling water is from domestic area. So if we can assume that there are not so much of a status issue in the source whether it is from import or domestic then the argument fails.
Only E states about the missing link which is the status .
