Hello All,
It's been 2 months since I started preparing for my 2nd attempt of GMAT. I scored 650 in my first attempt last october with V34,Q47.
The reason I could not score decent in quant was mainly due to the fear of exams I have somewhere in the back of my head. However, the reason for not scoring well in Verbal was mainly because I didn't know how to handle CR, RC or SC questions at all. In my first attempt I kept practising questions without devising any strategy or actually understanding the patterns in verbal questions. I kept making the same mistakes in the same areas in SC without any hope for improvement. It was not until my verbal score of 34 in actual GMAT when I realised I needed help in Verbal.
I read the reviews of all the courses available and the one that stood out was eGMAT's Verbal course. I sent an email to Rajat with the issues I had been facing and my expectations from the course. I got the response in couple of hours with the details of the course that would suit my requirements.
With the hope of doing well, I joined the VLP course. I have completed all the modules with couple of quizzes left in each one and I must say that I could have never solved a verbal question with such methodical approach eGMAT explains.
In SC, the difference in the usage of As and Like, the if..else framework, verb -ing and -ed modifiers were eye openers for me.
I used to be scared of bold face CR questions in my first attempt and after going through the videos in CR module I actually enjoy doing the bold face questions. My accuracy in CR has improved tremendously.
The videos in RC module have helped me understand the approach that should be taken to answer each question correctly within the time.
And above all this, eGMAT's pre-thinking approach has helped me frame an answer in my mind even before I look through the answer choices.
I gave GMAT PREP2 last week and scored 750 with Q50, V41. I hope that with the understanding I have gained from eGMAT VLP course, I will maintain this score in all future tests and of course in my actual GMAT.
I can’t wait to explore eGMAT's newly launched scholaranium 2.0.
Thanks eGMAT :):)
Whilst I am still preparing for my GMAT , this course is very helpful in enabling me to absorb the vast amount of material out there. Between my full-time work and family responsibilities, making the most out of the short time you have is crucial- and egmat verbal course does just that.
The sentence correction part is broken down into understandable sub components, which enables easy comprehension. The breakdown of complex sentences allows one to arrive at the answer in fairly short amount of time. While I am yet to try out the reading comprehension tutorial , the renaming components are defitley worth the subscription cost.
The verbal online has been an excellent and useful platform to prepare the verbal part of my Gmat. This course helps me to understand the main concepts of the verbal part (mainly SC) and to improve my overall knowledge of the verbal part. The videos and multimedia material have been fundamental for my Gmat learning and practice. I have tried many other GMAT courses in the past year and I feel that the only one that really helped me improve, mainly in SC, was the E-gmat Verbal online. I think it is perfect for non native speakers because it explains very clear and detailed all the rules that are usually hard for non native.
What i found really useful about the course is the very structured approach to solving sentence correction questions. By the method they teach I am easily able to rule out the wrong choices and arrive at the correct answer with a confidence that was lacking before. I also find the pre-thinking strategy for Critical Reasoning a very useful technique and helps me get an idea about the correct answer before I begin reading the answer choices.
Prior to e-GMAT i was scoring around 680-700 in my practice tests. However I can now see a mark improvement and my scores are around the 730 mark. I still have two months to go before my exam and I am certain that I can cross the 40 point mark in verbal thanks to e-GMAT
Hi GMAT learners
I am delighted to share my wonderful experience with e-GMAT Verbal course.
I took the GMAT test in Dec 2014. Though I had 4 months to prepare, I was stuck in the Verbal section for the first 3 months. I had used many types of text books that people recommend but the problem is the knowledge and skills in those books are not well connected. When I had only 30 days left to the test, feeling so panik, I decided to change the way I approach in order to improve my Verbal.
E-GMAT comes by chance when I was searching on GMAT club forum. I was hooked immediately by the trial course, and within few minutes I purchased the Verbal Course without hesitation.
I must say that all of previous 3 months can not compare with only 1 month I had with the course. I attend Online Seminar about how to get 700 in 30 days, and after that I started to follow the Studying plan strictly. By the way, I am working full time so my time to study is very limited, and most of the time I did not follow my own schedule. But with E-GMAT shedule, very very structurelized and well-developed, I can follow it easily.
To me, SC section is better than books. It's very well written even for though who has so many mistakes in SC like me. I found my weaknesses in SC can be fixed just after 15 days with eGMAT.
Since I did not have so much time, the rest 10 days was for CR. Before that my CR accuracy was just 50% but after I found the unique approach in the course, I can tackle any question with 70% accuracy. In the real test, it means a lot. I became more confident in CR with the "can-do" attitude which I did not feel sure before.
I got my 690 at the very first attempt. To many people, it is just a humble score. But to me, it's a lot of difference. Surprise me the most is that, now 5 months after the test, I can almost back to the course again to aim at higher score and still remember the core content of the course. E-GMAT helps me achieve real knowledge and skills that you don't have to take time to learn by heart. It becomes one part of your thinking already.
Thanks eGMAT team for creating such a great program. Definitely recommend to any GMAT takers!
I had signed up for egmat verbal live prepartion and found the course to be very helpful. Being a non native speaker i did not have much idea regarding the intricacies of sentence construction, grammar and sentence comprehension. However this course is a good point for building strong foundation for the primary concepts of sentence building. The course contents are easy to understand and the live sessions are interactive and stresses to relevant gmat like questions. The assesments at the end of the courses also helps to understand the current level of understanding of the concepts and their explanations are self explanatory. I would highly recomend this course for non native speakers in english.
I had signed up for egmat live preparation both quant and verbal. I found the course very easy to understand as each courses start with the basics of a topic and then dwelve into complex ideas of the topics. This makes it easy for a beginner to have a strong foundation on the concepts. The courses are structured and effectively keep the application of the concepts learned to GMAT based questions. The live sessions are enriching and it discusses advanced problems of the 700+ level in GMAT.I would highly recommended the course for GMAT takers and strong value for money
It was september 2014 and i was feeling so bad that i no longer wanted to take GMAT again. I just put in my best effort so far and yet i did miserably in GMAT, especially in Verbal. Long before starting my preparation one of my friend suggested me to take a course for atleast verbal section. But i being complacent didnt give any heed. Later after doing so badly i felt i should have gone for a Verbal course. So i decided to enrolll for a verbal course this time around. After reading a lot of success debriefs in GMATclub.com, i understood e-gmat offers the best verbal course and also a 4 point guarantee. But still i wasnt 100% convinced and thats when i read one of the testimonials in their website. It was by one of my friend who too did poorly in his first attempt and scored a 700 in his 2nd attempt by improving drastically in verbal. The very next day i enrolled for the E-gmat verbal live prep course without thinking twice.
Pros:
1. Affordable
2. Value for money
3. 3-step process for sectence correction and the prethinking approach for CR is amazing.
4. Course doesnt just cater to GMAT but also helps improve overall verbal ability.
5. Scholaranium is an awesome tool that helps one to practice with timing and helps asses one's ability & accuracy.
6. Live sessions really help in leveraging one's understanding of each concepts.
Cons:
Software glitches when viewing the course in Ipad.
I registered for a E-gmat Verbal Live prep after attending one of its free session. Being a non native English speaker I found this course very useful. Each lesson is structured so well. Every week I do prerequisites for the live session, live session and homework. This helps me stay focused and committed in my verbal preparation. The instructors are highly talented and the way they deliver the content in the online session is phenomenal. The live session is very interactive and I could get my doubt clarified on the same class. Even while going through the concepts file, e-gmat ensure that all my doubts are solved via the support team.
I’ve got to say that E-gmat is the best course for a non-native speaker.
I’ve improved 10 points in my verbal score after following the strategies explained in the course. The approach to breakdown a sentence into clauses is really helpful. I am now able to solve some difficult SC questions comfortably by using this approach.
In CR, the concepts explained are really helpful. Identifying the logical structure of the stem is the key, and the course offers a stress on this topic.
I was very weak in RC, but I’ve to say that after following the approach of E-gmat I learned that how to approach RC questions; not only I am feeling comfortable in approaching RC questions but also I am improving a lot. The approach of Pre-Thinking helped me a lot in the Main point questions.
So all in all, I must recommend this course to all the non-native speakers.
Dear Caesar,
Thank you for being a customer and posting a review. Just to clarify - the 10 points improvement that you mentioned is on a scale of 60, which is equivalent to 80-100 points on a scale of 800.
Lastly - make sure that you try Scholaranium to improve your score by another 5 points.
