No problem with A

C,D,E distorts the original meaning.
"Japan plunging into depression with double digit unemployment" is serverly strain for society.

Its actually " Japn plungin into depression that could severly strain society"

"with double digit unemployment" is just an additional information.

B suggests that "depression " is because of double-digit unemployment
