Frankly speaking , i dnt like any of the options. Since army is singular so they/ their is wrong. and E is also awkward. But since that is the only choice left , so i go for E

E - this is an OG question that got me the first time.

two things to note:
1. Words such as Army, team, orchestra, etc are singular
2. even if you don't know the fact listed in #1 you can get this question right by understanding what "it" in the second clause refers to.
